S-video out problems

I have a Sapphire Radeon x300 with s-video output. I'm using the latest drivers from ATI (v7.2) of clean installation of Win2k3.

However when I connect the video card to my TV, the screen constantly flickers from boot-up which leads me to believe this is a native refresh problem. In Windows I tried setting my video card settings to the lowest refresh rate (60hz) on monitor 2 (TV output) and it still flickers.

Also, the image on the TV screen is only black and white.

When I hook up my Radeon 7000 to the TV through s-video output it works and color is fine. There is no flicker from start-up. Unfortunately the card is AGP and my new motherboard is PCI-E/PCI only.

Are you using S video to S video cable or are you using S video to RCA? Anyway I had a similar problem and I think if I remember correctly I had an adapter that fit into the S video port but was the wrong type of adapter still. I had to use this type of adapter http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAND-NEW-Bi-Direct...6QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting . The type of adapter I was using that fit into the s video port didn't have a plastic piece in the connector, all it had were 8 little metal pins inside of it.

Can't speak for the flicker, but as for s-video check the driver settings make sure s-video is selected, not "auto" or "composite". Can't speak for ATI but this is how I solved the problem for an Nvidia Geforce 4 MX card I have.

Barring that, make sure the cables are snuggly plugged in on both ends. You can also see if you get the same results on a different tv. other than that I dunno what to say so good luck

Contacted video card support, apparently there's a jumper on the board to switch from PAL to NTSC and that fixed it.
