S-Video or Component Video for this scenario?

In regards to svideo versus component, would there be a significant difference assuming these criteria:

1. The TV is a standard 27 inch RCA model (TV Specs ), no HD, that has both svideo and component options.
2. Video will come from a PC with a choice of either the svideo out from a Radeon X700 Pro OR from the onboard component out from the onboard RS482 chipset (MOBO specs here )
3. Media will be either standard DVDs or shows captured using half D1 resolutions with a Hauppauge PVR-250.
4. Many of the already recorded shows have been converted to Xvid via Auto GK

Any and all opinions are appreciated :)

Use the component. Picture quality difference between the two is ridiculous (S-Video is crap compared to component).

X700 should sport component output so use that (get the cable if necessary). Why did you even get the X700 given the X300 onboard (not exactly a quantum leap in performance)?

Actually based upon 3DMark scores it is a fairly big jump in performance......but the real reason is the onboard TV Out. You can use this assuming you are also using DVI for your primary display. I however am stuck with standard VGA for the time being. The only way to utilize the onboard TV out with a VGA monitor was to get a PCIe based card and hook the VGA up to it instead which then effectively gives me the option of 4 monitor/TV outputs with SurroundView enabled. I may end of not even using the onboard TV out if the X700 Pro does indeed support component out via the same adapter that came with the mobo (pins match up :) )
