i have an avermedia DVB-T digital TV tuner card

and at the min im trying to run my ps2 through it, obviously it looks naff, 480i image on a 12x10 screen, then theres the interlacing.

but the svideo input gets put in black n white, and looks abit sharper, the ext. source plays the same video feed but its in colour and less sharp...how come svideo is in black n white? is it a cable or something? the svideo cable only has 4-5 pins

Are the regions set up right? I think if you try to run PAL or something, it will give you black and white output.

So the only s-video cable is going from a regular s-video output on the PS/2 to an input on your TV tuner card? (I don't have either of these)

yep its set to pal (which is right for the UK)

basically the yellow cable from the ps2 plugs into a leade that has a female jack on one end and the s-video thing on the other end (the round one with lots of pins in the middle)

Plug the S-Video connector all the way in on both ends of the connection. This happens on my HD tuner when the plug is half-way in and I was a lil' puzzled at first.

Ok... yeah, the adapter could very well be your problem.

If you e-mail the guys at svideo.com, they might be able to tell you if you need a different kind of adapter. I e-mailed them before on a different s-video problem someone was having and they told me what adapter they needed.

So you're trying to take a composite video signal and change it to s-video?

yeah i guess so

its a plug like red n white stereo plugs only its yellow for video...then it plugs into a shorter lead with the female bit at one end and a s video connector. it came with the card so i presume its meant to be used like this
