S-Video in greyscale on tv?

I'm trying to set up tv-out... this is my first try at it.

Here's the setup:
ATI Radeon 9600XT, latest catalyst drivers
Sony WEGA KV-27FS120

I've got a cable with s-video at one end, which splits off into 3 rca jacks, red, green and blue.. these are connected to red, green, and blue inputs on the back of the tv..

The problem is, I get no color.. just greyscale. I've checked all of the connections, and everything seems fine.. I can't find any options in the catalyst control panel or in the tv's setup for it, but then again I'm not really sure what I'm looking for..

The tv does have an svideo input on it, and i've got a cable being shipped, but I was hoping I could get this working with the rgb stuff now 🙁

If you connect component to component jacks one at a time you get to see what each signal looks like. The one signal your seeing is luminance, the other signals are chromas, and should if connected independently look like psychodelic colors. Try hooking each RCA to each input independently to see if your getting signal passed through each one.

This isnt a fix, just a way to analye a little more.

This happens to me when I don't plug the S-video connector in all the way (sometimes it really seems like it's plugged in perfectly but all the pins aren't making contact).

This happend to me when I was using a GeForce 4 MX, the solution was in the advanced settings I chose "s-video out" instead of "automatic" (and of course not "composite"). Dunno if ATI is like that, but it's worth poking around to see if there are settings for the tv-out like these. In your case maybe "composite" would be the correct choice until your svideo cable arrives

I think you mean "component" and not "composite". Composite has a single cable, and component has the three rgb cables. I had a similar problem when hooking up my DVD player via component cables instead of S-video. The entire screen appeared red. I had to go into the DVD settings and change it to component, and it works great now.

Actually I did mean composite, the Geforce supported S-video out and composite-out. I assumed this ATI doesn't have a component out, otherwise the OP wouldn't be using an svideo-splitter (but I've never seen the connector end of a component cable so maybe I'm wrong)

Problem most likely is the cable... You're going to have to wait until you can try a different cable so you can find out where the problem lies.
