For those still waiting on STALKER to come out. Don't know if the video is any good or not, downloading it now, but enjoy either way.

Today we are pleased to introduce a brand-new video trailer of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. demonstrating one of the in-game missions fully in DirectX 9! The trailer, codenamed ?The toughest enemy? is available in several resolutions:

Low (10 Mb)

Medium (30 Mb)

High (60 Mb)

Commentary of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Project Lead/Lead Designer Andrew Prokhorov on ?The toughest enemy' video.

The trailer shows an extract of one of the many variants of mission types from the game. The DX9 renderer is shown in all its beauty (although in the future we will show this functioning in full outdoors and in daytime). Lighting is all dynamic ? even each blade of grass casts a shadow from any light source.

Combat AI is demonstrated - team actions, accurate reactions from the sounds of characters other beings, accurate reactions from the grenades as well as the AI ability to evade gun-fire and grenades, camping skills as well as ambush and group attack. We also show an example of one of the many types of anomaly that are randomly generated across the zone. This helps the gamer to understand the gameplay opportunities that they are afforded due to the nature of the anomaly, both in terms of detection and avoidance for their own survival, but also such as luring enemies into these energy disturbances for their own destruction., as well as the ultimate function of the anomaly which is to generate artefacts ? the lifeblood of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The anomaly shown in the trailer is a heat anomaly ? a whirling area of air tearing everything to bits.

Finally, a note on the blood sequences. As you can see when the characters take a few serious hits they leave a trail of blood. As they attempt to flee from their pursuant this trail allows gamers to track them ? a note of caution to anyone who thinks they've escaped!

Their file server needs more bandwidth, only using 1/4th of my download speed.

Neither Winamp nor WMP will play it. Like they will play the audio, but no video.

I used Windows Media Player, but probably codec being used in there. I only use 2 that I can think of and one is Divx for sure, can't remember the other.

Vdub says Divx 5.02.

Edit: Looks great, I'll buy in when it comes out. BTW, had no problems playing it in WMP.

That's what I thought, and now I'm wondering why it was so highly talked about... Probably smarter AI than say Farcry, but I don't know if that's a selling point...

I was expecting much better Graphics since this thing has been delayed(right?). What game engine is this game using? Or is it a new engine? Farcry,DIII and HL2 beats it graphics wise hands down from what I've seen.

I wouldn't go that far. Even compressed, it looks better than D3 or Farcry. Hard to beat HL2 though. Killzone 2 looked better.

The land is alive. Every monster and stalker in the game has a life and will roam around finding what it needs to survive, including killing and eating each other. They sleep, fight, and die, just like you and the other stalkers wandering the area. After dispatching the attackers presenting immediate danger to Oleg, a quick glance to the left showed a dog dragging a corpse up into the hills to feast in safety. It's touches like these that give this 30 square kilometer playing field its vibrant presentation.

This perks my curiosity a bit as a selling point to me. Though I'll wait for reviews to pop up on it when it's released to se if I'll buy it or not. They also seem to hint at some type of RPG to the game too, which also intrest me. I'm fairly burnt out of the typical FPS style game and have been waiting for something different to roll out, just hoping this might cut it :)

This wont be out for 2 years at least, in its current state it is little more then a tech demo.

Hence why THQ declined to show it in any form at E3.

Sucks as I was really looking forward to this one:/
