Well you're definitely inventive, I'll give you that. There is already a 1.505 version so try looking for that one. :)

Well, I like the game, but I have the same complaints as the first game... The storyline is pretty boring, it doesn't really give you a reason to care about whats going on, which makes the game boring because it ends up being just about completely random missions to get loot/money. I like the game, but like the first one, I'm nearing a point where it is just boring me...

I liked the game, as you can see in my review. Bugs weren't totally gameplay breaking for me, although sometimes it did hamper my Faction War performance. There are people with severe problems though, I think mostly graphics/videocard related. All in all I liked the game. I think I like tactical shooters, because shooters like CoD4 are just to simple in singleplayer. I like being able to find new guns as well, although some guns are so heavy, that it's just inpossible to carry them around. Graphic wise Clear Sky is just stunning, I loved the atmosphere, and the gun fights that took place during the night ... All in all, I will be replaying the game as soon as I plow my way through dozens of new games that are waiting to be reviewed :p

I've played for probably close to 100 hours, total. Have restarted the game b/c the last scene was too damn difficult (where you have to shoot Strelok with the PSI-killer gun) and I'm stuck there. :eek:

:::::SPOILER ALERT::::::

I played the game all the way thru (on the next to easiest difficulty) TWICE and I still can't get past Strelok's men at the end. By the time you get thru the hosptial to the power plant, you have no armor left, no bandages, no medikits and Stelok's men can hit you in the head, thru a crate, from 300 meters away. AND THEN they come out behind you from the portals. :| I guess I just suck, but I'm stuck. Again. OK< so I suck. :p

From a techie standpoint:
Playing thru it a second time and I had not one crash or lockup. Nada. Running patch V1.5.05, DX9 from August and the 8.10 CATS. I have not tried any faction wars yet; I'm assuming you can get uber armor when you do? I've spent money upgrading my guns and THAT part I really like! The mods make a huge difference in the weapon's performance. I upgraded my vest (the one you get early in the game) as much as possible. The "Sunrise Suit" is beyond useless. It says "Bulletproof 12" (or 18 can't remember) but the description says "Unable to stop even a pistol round." :confused: I never used it.

The game has run well for me and looks awesome (night vision, muzzle flashes, weather cycles)...but man, it's DAMN DIFFICULT!!

No, I doubt you suck. I remember having a hard time at the end, then I found a hiding spot after re-loading and plucked away at strelok, finishing the game.

On a side note, I can't use my 1.504 games with 1.505, even though you are allegedly able to do so.

Lol, here's how I beat the game, when I got the PSI gun I started shooting at him untill he dissapears through one of those portals. Then you follow him and end up on that roof, right? Rushed through there as well, ignoring most of Strelok's men. When you teleport of off the building, strelok's man will bombard you with grenades and there will be bad guys in front of you, but after 3-4 tries I managed to get past them, and I saw Strelok running up to a really small ladder, and started shooting him. Before he even reached the BIG staircase I killed him. Game over :p

Problem with the end is, that there are no traders you can resupply at, so if you're running out of ammo or bandages, you're sol ...

Spoilers

The last level with Strelok is buggy. My first time through, he fell off the catwalk and got stuck on the ground where everyone is fighting. He was easy picking there.

Second time, it kinda worked, except the POS PSI gun didn't always work (ya, I probably missed). You can start shooting at him right at the start of the level. That's the part where you should try your best to wear him down as much as possible. After you have to chase him, it gets pretty hard having to kill the f*cking overpowered Monolith grenadiers.

Oh, and new patch is out: 1.5.06

OK, this is a long reply.

:::MORE SPOILERS and STUFF::::

:shocked: I never tried rushing thru that level b/c the enemies are such great shots. Aside from FAILING the level (game over, emission kills everyone) I didn't realize that was the end of the game. Well...OK...abrupt ending FTL! ;)

AFAIK, the last guy that can fix your armor/weapons is found at the hospital. I had him fix my armor once, but then I ran out of money. And there is NOBODY to trade with..I had the Fireball or whatever the hell it's callled artifact (worth 50,000 rubles) in my pack...lot of good it did me. :roll:

I tried to conserve my money and medkits. But for me at least, once I get to the last level, it's all over. No Fix It Man, nobody to trade with and a huge area with no goodies and nobody to trade with.

I actually have EXPLORED that last level. From the respawn point you can go backwards and down to the ground and from there, anywhere you damn want.

Most folks don't know that. The area is like a combination trainyard/helipad. ANd there's nothing down there. No crates for health/ammo/whatever. Enemies don't even SEE YOU! I stood right in front of them firing away. Then I switched to my knife. My stabs showed blood and elicited a verbal "Ooooh! Buulashickkkkkah!!" from the enemy but they didn't see me and their shots passed thru me w/no damage. That's a bug, obviously. But it caused no crashes. I explored the cranes with ladders thinking I could get behind Strelok, but no...ladders would not let me climb. I must be one of the few that have explored that far...that's a bug. Fix it..or take out the ladders, dammit.

I refuse to cheat. :) I have in the past, on different games...but I've learned that cheating negates the reason you're playing the game in the first place. I will try just running thru that area. AFTER I obtain the Ultimate Stalker Suit. Or whatever armor will keep me alive for more than 30 seconds on that level.

If you can survive The Red Forest and the dogs, jumpers, and all those crazy things, you SHOULD be able to survive that last level.

I'm also stuck at the nuclear plant. You're right about running out of medkits and bandages. My armor is down to about 30% as well, and I have about 100 rubles left.....lol. Damn there's a lot of those soldiers coming out of everywhere! I havent played it for 2 days 'cause that last part kicked my ass so many times. I can get thru the 3rd 'portal', but grenades come flying from everywhere and I'm toast........

Ooooh, nice, a new patch. Maybe I can actually finish the game now (stuck in the hospital) without it having a BSOD every 5 min...

In the mean time I have been playing the first Stalker on my XP box (should have installed clear sky there... might try to transfer save games over and see if that works) and it seems way harder than clear sky. The crap is all super expensive, I can't figure out how to upgrade the guns or armor (is it even in the game?) and the missions are insane. I had to download a trainer to even survive the third main story mission. Maybe I'm not taking my time like I did with clear sky but I found this to be soooo much harder.

I really hope that patch works, I can't wait to get in some more CS.

Funny thing is, I loved that silenced sniper, but you NEEEEEEEEEED armor piercing bullets, or your not going to kill any of streloks men. But, funnier was, there was supposed to be a different sniperrifle, but I never got it. Thats how big the game really is, you can beat it once, and you haven't even seen half of it. I played roughly 12-15 hours maybe, and didn't do much in the way of faction wars. I will be replaying, when I have time !

Upgrading weapons and armor is not available in Shadow of Chernobyl. Your can only get what you can find throughout the game or buy from a trader. The game gets much better and easier after you find better weapons and armor. If I remember correctly there is a pretty good suit in the attic of the last house on the left when coming out of the traders bunker in Cordon. You have to climb up to roof of the house where Wolf is standing (Forgive me if Wolf is not the right name it has been long time since I played this game. He is the guy that can give you your first few side quests in the stalker camp in Cordon.) and run across the roof and jump to the next house. On the far side is a hole in the roof you cannot fit into, but if you crouch and look around in that area you will find a pretty good suit that will help you tremendously during the first part of the game. It is a pain to get to though and it took me several tries but it is worth it.

Yep. Even with a power suit/exo-suit, I used up all my AP ammo near the start of the last level and had to start using my back-up AK74 with standard bullets. Took me at least 10 reloads. I had some ammo for the silenced assault rifle, but that thing is a POS stock.

I didn't know you could walk down to ground level. I though you could only hop or 'fall' in, but it looks like that 'battle' is built for show since most people are unkillable.

::BIG SPOILER::

In Clear Sky, I've discovered another "unreachable" and well-hidden place (stash). On the map, it shows a hidden stash (the purple circle with the triangles in it) but you can't see how to get in there.

It's in the same building that the "Forester" guy is in (Red Forest level) at the end of the building. TO GET THERE: Across from the building Forester is in there's a tall tower. There are two cables drooping from that tower to the building. Climb the tower to the top and carefully drop down onto the top cable. Yes; tightrope walking! Save your progress every few steps or so b/c if you fall, you're toast. Low-crouch and make your way down the cable towards Forester's building. When you're level with the roof, jump onto the roof and go right. There's a hole in the roof you drop down into. What do you get for all this trouble? One anti-rad kit and the ordinary sniper rifle. :roll: At least that's what was in my box. What a let down, right? I figured for all that trouble (I could NOT figure out how to get into the building!) there would be a super-suit or gun in there, but noooooooooo.

And just for repetition's sake: The last level, NPP is freaking impossible.

The best way through this is to start blasting Strelok in the head as soon as you can. Kill the baddies directly in your way and run through the portals ignoring the others. When you get teleported to the roof of the first building run to the edge and snipe at Strelok to finish him off. If you let him get up the steps on the other side of the map he's gotten away and you are just stuck!:disgust:| The first time I got to the end I let him get away because I wasnt paying attention and thought I had all the time in the world and could just follow him through the map. I ended up killing all of Streloks men on the catwalks and roofs (which was no easy task mind you) then getting to the steps only to be teleported back to the roof with nowhere else to go!

here

I think there might be a memory leak with the game or with this patch,I have had some minor slow down issues where the game would drop FPS right down to like 5 FPS or so just walking and not doing much,it takes awhile for it to happen however.

Stability wise I can't complain ,no issues in that department so far.

I made it through 1 or 2 teleporters before getting fragged repeatedly by the grenadiers. I reloaded and tried sniping Strelok right from the start when you get the PSI rifle. With headshots, I took him down before he got 3/4 of the way along that first catwalk, game over. I was disappointed it was that easy.

I'm right at the end now,I was disappointed how short the game was, and the radio missions where you can help a group in trouble while exploring was a joke,I always had them when I was quite far away and normally with a radioactive area around too,I failed most of them due to the time it took me to get there, a modded shotgun was disappointing power wise too,you would think with 5-6 shots point blank range it would kill any target but no it does not.

Good points in the game for me was really only the stability and story which was not too bad.
