Almost gave me a heart attack, put that "P" back in p-review!

It looks good. Going to be the first 'must have' for me this year.

It wouldn't surprise me if it's delayed, and I'll definitely get it once it hits the $30 range. I'm looking forward to Clear Sky more than any other game out there.

I hope it's not a step backward from Oblivion Lost, which is by far, the best mod (or compilation of mods) for the original game.

ditto. i'd like to though.

and if they can't meet the deadline, screw it - release a solid game that's delayed rather than a full-of-holes, on-time release.

looks pretty good so far. I think they'll release it on time this time as the engine isn't brand new; it's an improved version of the X-ray engine with features that didn't make it in the original game and more. :)

Have they said anything relating to the accuracy of the weapons? One of the things that drove me nuts about the original (and a bunch of other players as well, apparently) was how god awful inaccurate the weapons were. You absolutely needed to have one of the games top weapons to be able to reliably hit something more then 15 yards away, which could be more then a little frustrating. Having a scoped AK on single shot mode, firing crouched low, unmoving after letting the mouse-move inaccuracy settle out and still take 5 shots to get one on target was not fun.

I didn't have a problem with the weapons, they got better (more accurate) as the game went on and it only added to the whole atmosphere and 'realism' IMO. I cannot wait for Clear Sky it looks sweet from those screenshots, I hope It's going to be a killer title as GSC *should* have learned from any mistakes in the original (my game of year 07 :)) and with some extra $$ in the bank this time it bodes well for Clear Sky.

playing oblivion lost mod now its great. For those who want more accurate weapons download this mod!! it makes the weapon fire more accurate although I think the game is a bit easier now.

Yeah, if anything the game got too easy when you finally got the really accurate weapons since you could just sit off at extreme range and snipe enemies at will in complete safety while they spray completely inaccurate automatic fire at your position.

One of the downsides of instant-kill headshots is that ammo conservation becomes a moot point when it takes 1 or 2 shots to kill someone and you pick up 25 rounds from their body. The innacurate weapons meant you actually had to get in close to do real damage.

The main thing I liked about Oblivion Lost was that the mutants are actually challenging (when played on Master difficulty). A bloodsucker can absorb 2 clips to the chest before going down.

I have added a link to the Oblivion Lost mod (look in the first post). You have to unrar the file, install "smart mod manager," open it and install the oblivion_lost_1.3.7z. Installation is quite easy actually and it feels like another game.

Perhaps it was all the bugs, or the lousy endings, but to me STALKER was just "meh". So despite the pretty graphics, I'm not all that excited for the follow-up.

I'm really puzzled by all the people who really love STALKER - I don't get it. Especially the PC Gamer RPG editor on crack who called STALKER "Oblivion with guns" and named it his game of the year.

Are they claiming this as a new game?

The visuals look the same... this looks more like an expansion.

Yes, I know it's a prequel.

What I'm referring to is the pricing....

$30 bucks for this game at release sounds right to me.

Firstly, 30 bucks is generous comparing to what US/British developers charge for similar releases, keep that in mind. Secondly, if you are having problems getting used to the rather brutal and sometimes confusing world of The Zone - no one forces you to buy this release.

Now that I can play it at over 30FPS I just started it last night. Seems pretty cool so far. This next one looks really nice.
