I've never had anything with digital coaxial inputs within spitting distance of my PC until now... so I have NEVER used the S/PDIF output on my A7N8X-E mobo.
I now have my HTPC home theater complete with a 7.1 THX Yamaha RX-V1500 receiver. When I connect my PC to the Receiver via the S/PDIF cable, I get nothing. None.
If I use regular analog cables sound is fine. I know the Coax input channel is working on the receiver. I lugged my old DAT player in here and hooked it to the receiver and it plays fine.
Does the S/PDIF output on the Mobo only output certain signals? Is there somewhere I have to enable it? I found nothing in the manual about it.
Help! I'd like to get this working so I can watch my movies in full Surround sound mode!
Here's my home theater setup. Whitedog's den with his 120" movie screen!
In case you're wondering, I built the PJ myself using a 15" LCD panel and a few other items. See www.lumenlabs.com for more on building a DIY projector.

Any help with this S/PDIF connection is greatly appreciated.
