S/PDIF and Coaxiel

So I hooked the Coexial from my Cable Box to the S/PDIF port on my computer, but all I get is static. I was able to hook the video up through Svideo.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

There may be a setting in software to switch between S/PDIF in and out. try to look for that and make sure it's set to input
 
Sounds stupid but make sure you have the Digital coax cable going into the input not the output...

Also you will probably have to set it to recognize the digital in instead of the mic in which it would probably default to. I don't have this board so it makes it difficult for me to help you troubleshoot.
