I usually just load up CS, press Play CS, then Play Online. Press update to get a list o servers. Then wait, then choose a server

It's paid for bud.,,

I was just at Gamespy,I don't know how to get online,I can sit in there little chat room and ask away. So I know that works,but to get in a fricken game it says something about "challenging,with numbers ticking",,,I don't know pretty fvcked up,

search through the menus in gamespy, tell it to "search for games". It will scan your hardrive for multiplayer games, and then they should be available to click on on the screen, then you simply find a server from the list, and it will launch the game from within Gamespy. The EXE problem might be gamespy trying to run the wrong file to launch counterstrike. Making a batch file, with all your console settings, and having the program run that works well for me, but I haven't touched Arcade in ages.

CS retail or mod version? if its the mod version you also have to update half-life...

and

The All Seeing Eye is a much better server browser... supports many games as well

I have the Platinum Edition which consistes of Half-life
Blue shift
Opposing Force
team fortress
and C.S.
I'm still stumped.

You need to update to the latest version of half life if its telling you your EXE is out of date. If you're running hte latest version, uninstall/reinstall

You need to sit there for many hours waiting for the endless updates to download, and then wait for some more as a new version is released halfway through your downloading. Then you click play online, and wait another 2 hours for the updates for whatever game you choose to play to download, then wait a bit more to get the map and skins, then you can start playing.

You should fresh reinstall half-life and counter-strike. Half life should be version 1.1.1.0 and CS should be 1.5. I would also try making a LAN game to make sure your able to start the same.

screw those "Pay to play" services...

Thats what I pay $40-50 for the damn game for!!

I was going to buy Sims Online for my girlfriend the other day.. but read on the back , in the small text, "9.95 monthly fee".. what the fu<k.. They expect me to pay $49.95 for the game, and then keep dishing out $10 a month to play it.. yeah right.. EA can stick it!

Does CS still have a lot of cheaters? I've stopped playing for a year because of them. Recently, I've been Medal of Honoring online but it's not as great as CS (when they don't have cheaters).

I have a related question, can I take a config file from Quake2 and use it in CS?
Its for a joystick, I don't use the keyboard.

i highly doubt it.

mindstorm, with the last update of HL, it included HLGuard, an anti-cheat system. not sure how effective it is compared to the other anti-cheat addons, but i think it's better than it used to be in regards to cheaters.
