I'm lagging a bit behind the "community" because as a retired person, I have to budget carefully, and I haven't moved up to "SLI," "Athlon 64," etc. I have to make my "new build" about every 18 months and I have to make every penny count.

My sig-rig shows at the bottom of this post.

I've "turned over" from two successive Northwood "C" processors, starting with the 2.4C. I've replaced a 3.0C recently with a 3.2E -- purchased at a pretty good sale-price. The 3.0C becomes a "hand-me-down" for Xmas to my brother.

I'm still experimenting with ASUS "Lock-Free" and the loose-jointed Prescott frequency multiple. I think I could bump it higher than it is by edging up the VCORE, but for now, PRIME95 Large FFT runs day and night without error under these settings:

VCORE = [something like] 1.3725V or one notch above the minimum manual (and "auto") setting.

Frequency Multiple = 14
External Frequency = 250 Mhz
and
FSB = 1,000 Mhz

This fits the memory spec for the OCZ EL Gold modules, and they are set at stock latencies, with the VDIMM bumped up to 2.85V

The VDDQ AGP chipset voltage is bumped up from its stock value of 1.5V to 1.6V

When I run the S&M version 1.7.5 Beta, setting it to 100% and using the Wizard button, it runs some 3 hours before I notice the following situatiion.

From the start, the program shows two tabbed dialogs labeled "[0]" and "[1]" where the earlier version 1.7.2 showed "processor test." [I understand this from a friend who runs 1.7.2 where he has sent me a screen capture]. "PRocessor Test" shows the same information with the same dialog-box design as version 1.7.5 in either {0] or "[1]" tabs.

As I said, after the graphics frame-rate test completes, I see that [0] shows all tests as "passed" while [1] shows everything "passed" except for CPU "integer" test -- shown as "failed."

What is going on with this? Certainly, I have "hyperthreading" implemented, but the Prescott is not a "dual-core" processor. Is this behavior a program bug in the Beta version?

i dunno, i think you hit the nail on the head with the "beta" :p

it fails out my x2 because my voltages read too low even though a dmm shows them spot on during the test. and it doesn't read a little low, it reads like my 12v @ 10.04 and such. i don't see where to turn off monitoring so i don't run s&m anymore.

prime, pi, occt, 3dmarks, games and f@h is good enough for me :)

oh yeah, and s&m used to run fine (and pass) on this exact system except i had a 3700 sandy before my x2. so it definitely shows its beta-ness.

Confirmed, RISE4310 -- Confirmed.

Friend in another state had version 1.7.2, but uses an AMD single-core processor. The "0" and "1" tabs don't show up, and of course AMD doesn't have the "Hyperthreading" feature, which might "appear" to some software as two cores.

But he directed me to a "BenchmarkHQ" website -- also Russian, I think. They had posted a version 1.7.6. Recall that I'd been having the trouble described above with version 1.7.5 "Beta."

when this newer version begins running, it also identifies itself as "Beta!"

But I ran it for 4.5 hours, at 100%, and there was nary an error, nor nary an error such as I described.

That guy Serg -- probably half a world away -- needs some help with English language "help" screens, I think. I might be able to find him a good translator. In some ways, it's a really elegant little program.

Hey, could you provide a link to this BenchmarkHQ site??

Thanks.
