you could try this... but as you know, it might void your warranty.
open the external case, and then plug your drive directly in, and read the SMART from there. I'm sure it'll work like that (if the drive supports SMART that is :/)
What do you mean open the external case and plugging my drive in. My external enclosure is just an enclosure. It's not a standalone external USB drive, so I'm actually using my own drives. My drive support SMART, but how can I extract the SMART info? None of the SMART utilities read the info.
