I just made a proggy (unfortunetly, its in SUPER BETA phase, as in, it doesn't do file input/output....I use file redirection so far)....BUT!

I don't know if this is useful...I think it might be for comparing stastics IN THIS FORUM....WITH FORMATTING! The only problem with copy/pating the logfile is that it loses its formatting horribly....so I tried to do this.

See this? This is my SETIspy log slightly changed (not the file itself, but the output is derived from the logfile). I did NOT do this by hand.

Maybe this will be usefull for comparing those "low angle" and the "high angle" ones, and comparing times more easily?

I know its not perfect, but its pretty close....


Use file redirection (type &quot;s@hspylog.exe < setispy.log > outputfile &quot; assuming the prog and the log file are in the same directory)

I know there're guys that are much better programmers....but I haven't learned file I/O yet, and I'm in a pinch for time

I'm not asking if the info contained within the chart is useful (from me), i'm asking if the ability to (relatively) painlessly post the info from setispy in this particular forum....because I recall hearing some discussion about using the info about hours/and time processesed to see if there was a bug or whatever...

I like your chart! If you can append your OS and CPU type/speed info onto it, then you can email to Roelof Engelbrecht who wrote Seti Spy and he'll add it to all the data that he's compiling to help prove the 3.0 CLI VLAR problem!

well, that's EASY to do! Just copy the contents of the setispy.log file, or, if you prefer, copy it to another file, and attatch it to the email, and include your info in the email Everyone can do that! If I had known that, then I'd have emailed my log file to him long ago, with my info about it

What i'm talking about here, is this program is pretty much specific to being able to copy/paste the output from the program into these forums! (because they get rid of &quot;extra&quot; spaces, ie, ' ' characters (the blank ones, not the return ones, the SPACE BAR ones), which screws up the formatting that is done by the log file of setispy. So I wrote the program to get rid of the WU file name, the date, and then put in enough periods so that its readable in these forums (the .'s in this font that the forums use is smaller than in most fonts, which disproportionally screws things up).

My question is....is this useful to have this ability in THIS forum? Because if it is, then maybe i'll try to make a java version if I can teach myself java.

Hey BK,

I wonder if you could do a version that puts one comma between each column; thus, making a .CSV file. That would allow one's data to easily be loaded into a spreadsheet and sorted, graphed, etc. Currently I paste the data into MS Word where I do a series of Replace commands to put tabs in it. Then I convert that to a Table, which can be Pasted into Excel. This would save a bit of time.

Unless someone had tried posting formatted data into a forum message, they would not appreciate what your program does. Thanks!

danzigrules - Orangekid had the same problem.....are you running IE5.5, and WinME by any chance? I don't know what it is, but that stopped Orangekid from getting it, even when he right clicked and tried to do a &quot;file save as&quot;....

It's aprogram for spacing out columns on this forum.
When you copy &amp; paste columns of text into these messages they lose their spacing which is extremley annoying ,not to mention the dozens of re edits to get the spacing right.BK's program gets around this

The only reason why I made it was because there was talk about prooving that the 3.0 client was buggy esp with low angle WU's. This way, people could easily compare them, to see if there was a correlation by looking at all the data. I guess its null and void now that 3.03 is out.
