I think one reason DSLR has been out-recruiting us is because every new person that joins DSL Reports gets the following message:

Message from the DSLREPORTS SETI CLUB:
DSLReports.com is not all broadband chat, we run a poplar
SETI club, to join you just need some spare CPU power.
Our team is now one of the top teams in the world, bigger
than many country and multinational corporation participants.
We've been challenged by 'Team overclockers UK', and need
your help to stay ahead of them.. And its fun too!

** I hope dslreports.com will help you TELL YOUR FRIENDS if
they are thinking about high speed choices, to check dslreports.com!
** To help spread the word about the site we kindly suggest that
if you contact an ISP, you could mention you used
dslreports.com, and more importantly, if you have anything
interesting happen after you get broadband, you come back to warn or
amuse others, by posting a review, or a message.
thanks. See you on the site!

I highlighted the pertinent part. Now that is strong. We are just asking for a link to the main AnandTech Page and DSL Reports includes a recruiting statement with their welcome message to every new member. And remember, almost everyone that gets a dsl connection ends up there making sure they have tweaked their's just right...I did.
Until we get more assistance from "management" it is going to be extremely difficult to recruit enough new members to hold off DSLR.
