I got my main rig back up and running with a new GPU heatsink/fan. So now my 2nd rig is doing nothing but running S&H. I got the GUI client the other day just for convenience, but now I'd like to switch to a CLI to get some more work done since it sits idle all day. Can somebody recommend one, and tell me where to get it, and help me get started using it. I don't know what kind of configuration it needs or anything like that, so all the help/advice/directions you can give me would be helpful. Thanks.

Following titanmiller's links, or the TeAm AnandTech SETI links in people's signatures will show you the best way to set everything up :)

I'm sure you'll be very pleased with the decrease in WU times, and therefore the increase of WUs done per day with the CLI over the GUI!!

Your link goes to v3.08 ,just change it to 3 & he can get that version:)

Jeff7181
Incase your wondering v3.03 is about 15% faster than 3.08 at most WUs.

When you started up the client did you type in your email address correctly?
Are you running the CLI by itself or did you D/L SETI Driver too? If SETI Driver how is it setup? Just as titanmiller's page?
Have you finished a work unit in those 8 hours?

A little more info would help.

Where are you checking for the stats? The main SETI stats site or some other site?

I downloaded the SETI driver but haven't been using it.
I restarted the client last night, and now it seems to be working... but it doesn't seem to be any faster than the GUI client. I guess I should use the SETI driver in case it's been having problems connecting to the S@H server when it's done with one... cause in 12 hours it's only finished 2 more WU's... which is no different than the GUI.

If you are still having problems, you might want to just start over.

Remember to un-install the GUI CLIENT first and then just follow the step by step instructions in my sig-line. ;)

Yeah, I did uninstall the GUI client first. It seems to be working now after I restarted it... maybe it froze up or somethin cause CPU usage was at 0% when I looked... hard to tell though cause I'm running the CLI without the -verbose option. BTW, I have it on my main computer now too =) So we'll see how long it takes my XP2500 @ 2.2 Ghz to finish a WU.

With the CLi it should do most WUs in under 2.5hrs:)

Btw the CLi is about 25% faster than even an optimised GUI setup ,no doubt
CPU useage should be near 100% with no other programs running

If your using SETIDriver then there is no need for the verbose command as it has a % progression bar.
If you just using the CLi then stick -verbose in the command line

Are you basing that on my XP2500 @ 2.2? Or my XP1700 Palomino at stock speed? =)

Your XP2500 @2.2GHz ,actually you should get quite a bit under 2.5hrs ,maybe around 2.25hrs :)
The 1700 should do them in about 4hrs or so I guess

My XP1700@2.04GHz does average WUs in about 2hrs 28mins

SETI Driver is estimating 2:19... wonder if it would even shave a few minutes off if I wasn't using the computer for anything else while it's crunching.

Nice:) ,take note though that the prediction isn't accurate until about 50% of the WU is done
