S/DPIF cable...

I have a Hollywood+ DVD decoder card and a dolby digital receiver... the decoder card has a S/DPIF Coaxial Dolby Digital connecter at the back, and I am connecting that to the coaxial digital input of my receiver... However I dont have a S/DPIF cable, and currently I am using a normal RCA video cable (I read one some websites that this is perfectly fine)... This has been working fine, and I have not been experiencing any distortions on the sound...

However I am kinda worried... Does anyone know if I will run with any problems in the long run if I keep using the RCA video cable instead of the S/DPIF cable? How much does a S/DPIF cable run anyways? And does stores like RadioShack has them?

they are not very cheap.

you can get by with the RCA cable, but you should have a 75ohm cable with 75 ohm ends if you want better...

radio shack does carry them, but some stores may not have them.

I've been using a decent quality Monster video RCA patch cable, and I have never had a problem. I think it's just a way for the MAN to make more money.

it's called S/PDIF (not sure where the / goes though, but think that's right)

Haha really? I copied "S/DPIF" right off Sigma's website... I guess they got it wrong too....

Thanks guys for the replies! I guess I will keep using my RCA cable for now...
