Okay...my gf's bday is nov. 9th, this coming fri. and I'm taking the day off so I could be with her but I don't know where to go, what to do, where to take her for dinner? Oh boy! Big problems for me!!!
The thing is that we've been everywhere, done everything, eaten everywhere and everything.

I need some advice...btw...I live by the Pasadena area! Any suggestions would help. TIA

take her to a nice restaurant. Old Town Pasadena. Shouldn't be that difficult to find a place. there's a steak house right there. It's pretty romantic. I can't remember the name right now though. Or you could take her to Saladang or Tommy Tangs. It's thai food I think. Good food. Hot chicks. Oh wait. Maybe you don't want to take her there. 😉 I really doubt you've been everywhere. 😀

You might even want to consider taking to a restaurant you never been to. Malibu may be kinda far from you but Chart House is always a good place to go if you like seafood. You could head over to Ubon (Beverly Center) for some good japanese food albeit a bit expensive.

Mi Piace is also a good place to go. Good food. Don't forget the flowers (roses are preferred).

[edit]
Shiro's also a good place from what I've heard. I haven't been there but have been to the other places. Not sure how far you are willing to drive and what kind of budget. If you have time, there's a place called Bistango's and Bayside Restaurant. One's in Newport and the other's in Irvine.

Villa Nova in Newport is also a good place. Most of the places I'm recommending are >$20/person. Some of the places might be around $50/person depending on how much you order. I like to order a variety of food. We don't eat all of it but its nice to have variety.

well well well. i live in Pasadena. the question here is where have you two been to? santa monica? old town? i'm assuming (since you live here) that you've been to old town. well, if its a dinner you want, then I know of one good resturant in old town. You know where the AMC theaters is, in that little plaza, well, right in front of the entrance, you'll notice a ice cream place, well, if you look on top of that, you'll see a patio resturant. I ate there a while back, decent food, but its a nice place. not all that but its a decent meal, plates are aroun $10-$13.

umm, where else..

you can always go down to Santa Monica and chill out at the third street promanade, i haven't been there in months, but that place is always fun to go and see the strange people. (lots and lots of resturant) AND!!!!!!! the beach is right there, with the pier! so you can easily go for a nice walk after the meal, heck, even hang out at the beach at night (i did once with a girl I was dating) lets just say i got sand in my crack 😉

umm, where else...

oh, thats right, how can I forget, been to Universal City Walk lately? They added lots of new stores and walk ways, its FAIRLY packed, and parking is expensive (like 8 bucks or something) but its a nice place to hang out.

you know the girl from that 70's show? whats her name, the annoying gf of that one guy, well, I saw her at third street (she was hot btw) umm maybe taking your gf there isnt a good idea.

well, good luck. i'm sleepy

😀

Nah, don't get roses because they are expected. Get something unexpected,,,girls like that 🙂

Maybe you should get a motel and make it all romantic for the night,,,candles, jacuzzi, wine, cuddling while watching a movie, etc.

Well they aren't expected if you don't get them ALL the time! 🙂 I hardly get my GF roses because they would be expecting it. Hahahaha. That's always been my plan. So when I do get them, she's all happy.

I was going to recommend any of these places too! Of course, they were the only places I went to when I visited my friend in Pasadena a couple of years ago but I remember that they were nice.

Ok being a woman .. YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH ROSES ... unless she is allergic to them .. that would be bad .. but I would kill for my husband to buy me roses for my birthday or for any other occassion .. he hasn't done that since we first started dating almost 3 years ago.

That's the problem...we've eaten everything around this area...I think we ate at every restaurant in Old Town...I think the steak house is called JJ's and I've tried Shiro and Mi Piace which are very nice places to eat. That Chart House might be a very good idea! Thanks...i've never heard of it!

DannyLove...I think that place with a patio is called Il Fornaio(sp?) and yes I've eaten there too...several times and we always order the Carpacio...yum yum!!!😀 I've been to 3rd St. recently and nothing new there and also City Walk which is just a walk and shops. I'm tired of taking her to the same old places. Want to try something new!
And here are your damn PICS!!! (almost forgot, thanks)

I know a florist so he is willing to arrange flowers for me...so on Thursday morning...I'll go to flower district in LA and get me some 2 dozen long stem roses for 10 or 15 bucks 😀 ( Hey...I'm a HOT DEALS guy!!!)

NEED MORE IDEAS...thanks so far!!!

Chart house is nice. Its on the coast. You have a great view of the ocean. At times you may even see some dolphins out in the water. But not now I don't think. I recall seeing them more in the spring/summer time.

JJ's, that's it!

Or maybe you want to take her to Crustaceans or The Ivy. 🙂 Go check them out. Talk about expensive! 😀

If you want expensive try L'Orangerie...its on La Cienega in Beverly Hills...Our waiter dropped a champagne glass by our table and we were offered free souffle....the souffle's were 12 bucks a pop....of course I gladly accepted! 😀

Saladang at Pasadena is nice...real nice. Make sure you go to the big one and not the small one...the big one looks more romantic. If you really wanna bust your wallet go to Ivy in Beverly Hills...😱

I would suggest you

Prego in Newport Beach. It is a kinda upscale Italian restaurant and the food is not so expensive ranging from 15 to 25 for a plate with valet parking. The interior of the restarurant is designed very elegantly and they focus on the service and the food depending on your preference of Italian food. The downside is that bread is not free so you might have to order your own bread. This place can run up your bill to about 80 ish.

Magianos in Costa Mesa. It is kinda upscale Italian restaurants and the food is not so expensive ranging from 15 to 30 for a plate with parking in the South Coast Plaza. This place is designed like semi - homely Italian restaurant but the food is great. This place can run up your bill to nearly 100 easily with appetizers + entree + desert. If you decide to go here, make sure you go earlier for parking.

I work as a PC Technician at a law firm and they took me there on the 2nd day of work to Prego. I recommended Magianos and he came back and told me it was worth spending 90 dollars for food for him n his date and now gf.

After that, I suggest you go to the beaches near by Newport Beach. Or this place in Long Beach (Signal Hill) to see the city lights from above. You can pm me about this long beach place if you want, I be glad to give you more specific directions.

I remember going to Laury's before, seemed pretty classy, but it was packed when i went, its a prime rib place i think on La Cienaga, also try the Stinking Rose, its like a block from Laury's and not nearly as packed.
...I live in Canada yet i still know all this => i think i've been to LA a bit too much

What kind of cuisine are you looking for?

Here are some suggestions by cuisine:

Italian:
Il Fornaio, Santa Monica. //great Italian all around. Nothing special though
Cicada, Downtown LA. //this place is AWE INSPIRING. Food a bit expensive and "trendy" though
L'Opera, Long Beach. //built in an old bank, very romantic. Very very expensive.
Valentino, Santa Monica //never been here but a 27 Food rating in Zagat is worth a look

Steak/Seafood:
Chart House, Malibu //never been here but great location
Chart House, Redondo Beach //great romantic view
Kincaid's, Redondo Beach //great food, great ambiance
Crustacean, Beverly Hills //never been there, eclectic seafood/vietnamese. Incredible decor.
Houston's, Century City //celebrity hangout (saw Suge Knight there)

Japanese / Sushi:
Matsuhisa, Beverly Hills //indubiably the best Japanese restaurant in LA
R-23, Little Tokyo //impossible to find but worth the trip
Nagao's, Brentwood //tiny place run by one of the best. Highly recommended

Here is a list of Zagat Most Romantic Restaurants

Other suggestions? Try a Gondola Ride in Long Beach

Okay...I have narrowed it down to two restaurants...THE IVY or CHART HOUSE...not HOT DEALS for me...but its for the lady! 😉

Now...what is there to do? Places to go or should I just buy her one of those spa and massage packages thingie. I don't mind forkin out the dough...its for my woman! What do you guys think?

IF you want really expensive. There's a japanese restaurant on Rodeo Drive. It's hidden. You'll have to ask the concierge about it. It's $1000-$2500/head. Depends on what the chef wants to charge you. 😀 BTW: reservations are required. And if you cancel the reservation without 24hr warning? $250/person. 😀 i can't believe ppl actually go there. 😀😀😛

[edit]
The Ivy you're looking to blow at least $50/head that night. You might want to reconsider that one. Just my opinion though. Plus I don't think it's worth it. I'd go with the Chart House for a nice romantic view and dinner (Malibu).

dude.. just get a limo and roll into In and Out, hehaheheh

hmmm.. places around here? uh... Waters in Irvine? has a nice lake, can walk around and stuff

many places in Newport Beach...

Orange Hill? Kinda expensive though... Ritz Carlton is also

eh, dont mind me, all you guys' ideas are all good ideas 😛

neovan,

Book a night a the Wilshire Grand and make reservations at "Water Grill" which is a great resterant! Order the chefs special which is a freehand expression in seafood artistry, go back to the grand dance awhile and order breakfast in bed.. 😉

If u're bored with universal side walk, try Disney downtown. ......but it's not a hot deal for the gasoline since it's far from u!!

I want to get a nice hotel or something and spend time with her there but she has to be somewhere early the next morning. Then in the afternoon when she gets back, I'm throwing her a bbq party and then later on when it starts getting dark...we're gonna go to the beach and have a bonfire.

Noe, take the Wilshire Grand Suggestion then. 🙂 Its a great place and you can stay there all night. The Korean resterant is pretty good there. 🙂
