?s about clear acrylic cases

My son and I FINALLY picked out a case! This was the hardest part too. I'm not sure which case to get from frozencpu. The 2nd has more accessories.

Anyone with an acrylic case? How is the cooling situation? I've read they are a little noisier but I'm more concerned about the heat.

Any advise? Thanx, Rob

If I were to choose, I would go wtih the bottom choice, the one with the 120mm fan intake.
Slap on a quiet 120mm fan, and 2x 80mm Panaflo 12L's and it wont be as noisy as some of the ones that are displayed at the local stores. Make sure you have a good CPU HSF like Zalman or Thermalright

dont forget about having to clean it every month or two or else they'll get really really dusty. thats the con about acrylic cases. the pro is that it looks really rad wtih the lights and etc.

Yeah acrylic cases are also warmer since acrylic doesnt radiate heat like alu cases do, it tends to hold onto the heat more and heat it up...and just gradually get warmer. probably not too noticable, but its a fact.

What, is this a corollary to the "aluminum cases cool better than steel cases" myth?

With an identical layout, decent airflow and tidy cable routing, there will a negligible temperature difference. Given that those acrylic cases use 120mm and 92mm fans, they probably have the potential to be cooler than aluminum cases restricted to 80mm or 60mm fans. Now that's a fact.

I dont think its a myth....and we're not talking about steel here, we're talking about acrylic vs alu, feel an aluminum case after being on a few days, its going to be cool to the touch, because of the properties of alu, feel an acrylic case after a few days use, identical system, its going to be warmer. I've done this myself, same fans, same cable management....
