I just built me a Ryzen system (I'll list parts at end) and updated the AMD chipset and it now includes a new Win 10 power state called AMD Ryzen Balanced Power. By default this puts my processor at 3.4 and boosts to 3.7 ghz. I have double checked this with CPUz and Ryzen Master running. Prior to installing this latest driver in balanced mode it would run at 1.6ghz and then boost as high as 3.6ghz with all kinds of speeds in between.
Question..is this the new normal for this chip with this new Ryzen power state?
I'm thinking it is, in which case out of the box now with this power state the 1600 cpu is actually 3.4/3.7 instead of the 3.2/3.6 as advertised. I haven't started overclocking as I'm waiting for my AIO corsair to be delivered, so it's just on stock spire now.
Setup:
I have been using the new Ryzen Power Mode and also OC'd my CPU to 3.8ghz through bios and OC'd my GPU a little bit. Stressed it and CPU got up to about 68C with the stock cooler. Playing games and such it is around 62C or less. I mainly play SWTOR and cpu temp stays around 41 and my GPU stays so low the fan never kicks on. I ran FireStrike and got a total score of 12002, which I guess is okay. Anyway, I'm happy all cores at 3.8ghz all the time so who cares about the boost stuff now LOL.
