I have just got a ryzen 3600 running linux mint, although the bios says 3600 hz in linux it displays cores between 1800 - 2600. Am I missing a brain cell ? My skylake ran better and snapper anyone any ideas as to what is going on.

List your hardware. It'll help zero in on your problem. Does this happen under heavy load scenarios or idle scenarios?

Where are getting this data from? /proc/cpuinfo? Something else entirely?

What kernel version are you running? I'm not sure how well older kernels might support new Ryzen CPUs but with Linux as rule of thumb you should generally run the freshest kernel possible for your new hardware.

I'm now on kernel 5.2 and my Ryzen 3000 CPU works more or less OK. I'm not sure if deep sleep states are properly supported though but the CPU power consumption at idle is even lower than on Windows 10 1809 installed on the same PC.

On second thoughts it could just be me expecting more when is slower than my old system which was a nothing special skylake.

Sounds plausible, I would second updating to latest BIOS. Also, you may want to look into updating the Nvidia drivers for your GTX 1060.

Update your BIOS. Ryzen 3000 series officially launched in July and yet you're using a BIOS built back in May...

took several boots to get the right memory speed otherwise much the same. just not as responsive as I was use to before ryzen ugrade.

Is your other hardware a carryover from the previous Skylake build? What about the Linux Mint OS?

No all new in apart from disc's and waiting on an M2 to arrive , I do have some other programs working now that had issues before, cannot see any temperatures or control any fans under linux, will go to 19.2 when load the M2 that. It kept seeing the memory at 2666 instead of 3000 and after several boot took the right speed .

This is correct data. Now what version of Mint are you running and what's your kernel version? Can you try any fresh Linux LiveCD?

Also, could you please run GeekBench 5 just to see what your performance figures are? It might be possible that your system works fine but for some reasons either your Linux doesn't return proper cores frequencies or there's some sort of BIOS bug.
