It's preloading now.
I haven't played it since I don't own a xbone, friends that bought consoles all opted for the PS4. The game got destroyed in reviews, I've seen a few that were less harsh but none were glowing reviews.

This will be a "RIP Crytek" purchase for me, it's unlikely they can stand on their own for much longer.

I'm not expecting much beyond a eye candy game that fails to deliver gameplay but for all the fun I had with Far Cry and Crysis, they get my money one more time.

Like all Crytek games as of late, it will be a very pretty but mostly shallow game with a mediocre plot and repetitive gameplay. I'm definitely interested in checking it out, but not at this price point, and there are too many other games out this month occupying my time anyway.

True. Oh, and controls not optimized for KBM. In game play: Instructions "Hit blue key" or "press yellow key" still present in PC version of game!

I think it will only do that when you have a controller plugged in (and this seems like the kind of game you should play with a controller IMO). If you're using KB+B, proper button prompts should appear.

I think Crytek will be fine. They tried growing too fast and had to trim some fat, but in the long run they'll be ok.

Crytek created the perfect muscle car, the Cryengine but didn't really know how to drive it. They could have made the genre top sellers and establish franchises the sizes of Uncharted, Dark Souls, Battlefield, Splinter Cell, you name it.

Few screens:

Yeah :) though from what I understood the powers are omitted.

Game includes all DLC's and microtransactions are removed.

I would love to have an open world RPG set in the Roman Empire. I think it would be awesome. Ryse ticks none of those boxes. :'(

I think Ryse uses Cry Engine 4... the only game so far.. No wonder it looks insane.

yeah i seen people on some other sites i frequent saying it doesnt look good, personally i think its the best looking game right on part with Crysis 3 if not a little bit better in some regards (and Crysis 3 having its own strengths as well such as more interactive foilage)

Is CryEngine 4 even designed for anything beyond shooters or this sort of game (which is a linear shooter with swords basically)? I always thought some engines were better designed for certain genre's. Look at the Red Engine from CD Projekt - I doubt its been built to support FPS's.

1. Probably because they hated the gameplay. I can appreciate amazing gameplay with poor graphics and acknowledge amazing graphics on their own even if the game is not fun.

2. Butthurt NV fans with a $550 GPUs that performs worse than a $270 R9 290.

Graphically wise, this is in the top 3 for me right now with Crysis 3 and Metro LL. This is for sure the best looking 3rd person game out of the box (PC Gamer gameplay video) (not counting Skyrim in 3rd person view with RealVision ENB mods).

Just wish next gen of games had Ryse: Son of Rome graphics. Watch Dogs looks last generation compared to this. Far Cry 4 and AC Unity are nowhere near this level too. Evil Within locked to 30 fps and has poor textures, clipping and low polygon models. Disappointing trend for those of us looking forward to next gen GPUs.

Will this game have a very high setting, or is it just high setting only?

Even on High looks better than any PC game, even Metro LL and Crysis 3. The main character's model is more detailed in real time than AC Unity and Far Cry 4 in cut scenes. Damn.

Real time Graphics

In cut scenes, the graphics are incredible.

Too bad this game is very repetitive.

Graphically its amazing. Gameplay wise, its awful. Nothing interesting about it. Decent voice acting.

I wish crytek would stop making these boring as hell games, even if they are primarily a engine showcase (they don't seem to be licensing very well), and hire a couple of writers. I was excited for this gfame when I first saw it, then immediately disappointed when I read first impressions.

For a graphics engine, I don't think that's a thing.

Lost Odyssey on Xbox 360 is a JRPG that utilizes Unreal Engine. I think you'd be hard pressed to say it looks off because of graphic engine's perceived genre bias. It looks like a JRPG. I think you'd even be hard pressed to know it was using Unreal.

I've got it on the Xbone and the graphics are fantastic in places.

Gameplaywise it's shallow and repetitive, but I had hours of fun with it.
