I'd like to see Ryan win, but Pelosi has a stranglehold on the party and her position.

Pelosi is a shoo-in, but hopefully the challenge itself makes the Democrats realize that they desperately need some fresh blood in their leadership ranks.

I think he's referring to Tim Ryan challenging Pelosi for leadership of the house Dems. Not Paul Ryan.

Right now would be a great time to retain Pelosi from my perspective but if the Democrats are to ever get on the winning side of the issues it isn't going to happen with the old guard in place.

Democrats are busy finger pointing to bother to do the work they need to do to .

Q: "Who's going to win the senate minority leader slot?"

A: "Trump tweeted something about the flag, I must troll the internet about it, and who's Nancy Pelosi?"

It's fucking pitiful.

I hear ya but they're just going through the same shit Republicans went through after Obama won. Conservatives were often less than rational then too while running down every rabbit hole that appeared. That doesn't make any of this less tiresome though.

I think the biggest adjustment the left has to make concerns the loss of control. Trump is going to appoint whomever he wants and Harry Reid can be thanked for the way they'll breeze right through the confirmation process*. What will be interesting to see is the deals that will have to be made by Trump to get SCOTUS nominee's through. We'll see some first class obstruction there but the left of course won't see it as such. Shoes fit both feet. Those with some objectivity can see which one it's on at any given time.

* Those that don't know who Tim Ryan is may need to Google the "Nuclear Option".

Pelosi is pushing 80, is quite wealthy and the epitome of a career politician. Add to that a slew of loses, how the party of the little guy allows this woman to remain minority leader is comical.

to be fair, it's not exactly the House Minority Leader's job to set the direction of the party... whoever is selected to be the Minority Leader, their job for the next 2-4+ years will likely be nothing but trying to maneuver to temper the Republican agenda where possible.

it's likely a job where you may want someone experienced and knowledgeable of all the arcane House rules.

You think these idiots know this? Lol no.

There's nothing wrong with Ryan, he even admires Pelosi. I have no problem getting someone younger either, but the biggest issue and loss if Pelosi were out would be her mastery of the system and ability to get things done. She is one of the most successful (in terms of legislative success) speakers in history and her skills would surely be missed.
