I find it sad that they installed audible alarms in a school for the deaf, how retarded can you get?

A lot of kids died in that fire. They had just had another school fire a few weeks ago, again with many deaths.

Perhaps it was a very dull educational environment. You went to Carolina, you know what it's like. ;)

Back to the real story... :(

How can you be so cruel? Are you insinuating that Russian people purposely did this?

Even our fire alarms have flashing lights that would wake me up. I feel really bad that this happened :(

I don't know how you guys sleep, but if I was deaf, the only think that would wake me up is the house shaking. Flashing lights do nothing...

This is vary sad for those children and their families, but I do have to agree with Moralpanic.
This is Russia we're talking about. I'm not surprised.

However, I am surprised Russia didn't try to hide the fact that it happened...oh wait, I forgot Russia now has a conscience...

The beauty of a land without ambulance chasers. People complain about lawsuits and regulations, but without those, you get stuff like this.

i don't think bright lights would wake me up... tragic, but i think these types of things are kind of hard to prevent. they probably didn't have enough money to install vibrating beds or somehting

I'm sure he isn't saying that the russians did this on purpose. There is a different way of thinking over in the former USSR. It dates back to the days of communism. They do things a certain way simply because that is how they are done, not necessarily because it makes sense. The school was probably in an older building, and they didn't refit it with the appropriate alarms because it didn't follow archaic procedure. It is really absurd, but that is the way it works.
