Meh. Read this article and decide. There does seem to be enough "meat on the bone" to the point where it was legitimately considered, at least. <shrug>

"Sources said the escape plot involved giving Assange diplomatic documents so that Ecuador would be able to claim he enjoyed diplomatic immunity. As part of the operation, Assange was to be collected from the embassy in a diplomatic vehicle.
Four separate sources said the Kremlin was willing to offer support for the plan – including the possibility of allowing Assange to travel to Russia and live there. One of them said that an unidentified Russian businessman served as an intermediary in these discussions."

[...]

"Assange’s Christmas Eve escape was aborted with just days to go, one source claimed. Rommy Vallejo, the head of Ecuador’s intelligence agency, allegedly travelled to the UK on or around 15 December 2017 to oversee the operation and left London when it was called off."

[...]

"Sources offered conflicting accounts of who cancelled the Assange operation, but all agreed it was deemed to be too risky. The stumbling block was the UK’s refusal to grant Assange diplomatic protection."

Under UK law, diplomats are immune from criminal prosecution if their diplomatic credentials have been accepted by the British government, and if the Foreign Office has been alerted to the diplomat’s status."

I've got the cloak if you've got the dagger!

Sounds reasonably legit. Why worry about poising off anyone, not like Trump would put more sanctions on Russia
a) because Trump loves Wikileaks, he would likely be pissed that Wikileaks would be out for his next election but regardless he’d still refer to Wikileaks

b) Russia if you’re listening I hope...

That’s interesting thanks for posting. It’s insane how the auK has kept him effectively locked up all this time and the resources used to do so for skipping court on a bogus rape charge (that’s been dropped already).

AFIK we arent actually doing anything. He wants immunity and the UK gov is refusing to give it to him, apart from that they arent really doing a lot.

I think it’s has more to do with the extradition treaty, we the US can file charges and have him sent here.

Assange is screwed for life. He might be able to select his prison but he will never be a free man again. The U.S. political establishment is 100% united in wanting him dead or locked away for good. The various parties have different reasons but none of them want him loose in the world.

But have we yet though? My understanding is the official reason the UK is running surveillance on him is he skipped out on the rape issue for Sweden.

I doubt that there's a massive amount of surveillance on him. Hes in a foreign embassy so there's only so much snooping we can do without stepping on Ecuadors toes.
I bet if he leaves the embassy not a lot happens.

Not for intelligence gathering you know I mean. They have police watching that Embassy 24/7 making sure he doesn’t try to leave.

I think the theory is
English courts call him in to discuss why he missed his appearance, Judge then orders Assange be held for x days as a penalty (a penalty you or I probably wouldn’t get), we the US then ask for extradition.

Assange has become an evil mother fucker. Whatever reasons brought him to where he is he now supports dictators and/or evil men and actively undermines democracy.

Assange skipped bail in the UK. That's a crime. The rest is immaterial to UK authorities at this point, something they'll deal with once he's in custody. When & if the Ecuadorians get sick of his shit they'll waltz him out the front gate into the arms of UK authorities, having dropped a dime on him beforehand.

Failure to appear is an open & shut case unless the accused is in the hospital, some other jail, lost at sea or the victim of some other serious misfortune.

Right but most people who skip bail don’t have millions spent on them. There’s definitely more to it than that.

Probably so but the bail jumping charge is bulletproof. They'll start with that. There's no certainty beyond that point.

For sure that’s what the initial charge is but we all know bail jumping isn’t the reason the U.K. has spent millions to keep watch if he tries to get out.

He’s an important guy who runs in some shady circles that is currently doing shady work.
Of course he’s treated differently than the guy who missed a court date for not paying parking fees.

That's not how Novichok works. You could use the Russian version of Fentanyl knockout gas though, it's lethal about 30% of the time so just up the dosage a bit.

If we are speculating. I would say it's because he has a tendency to disseminate highly classified material. That has been leaked. Which in itself is a serious criminal offence.

The US* is going to want to do more than slap him on the wrist for that. He's a "national security risk" if he was living in Afghanistan. The US would have used a drone to fire a hellfire missile through his lounge room window a long time ago.

*and allies including Australia fucknuts helped publish details about some of our most sensitive intelligence operations in south east asia (with the intelligence being shared as part of five eyes). Traitorous shitbag that he is.

Basically he has a lot of very powerful enemies. Who aren't going to let it go.

EDIT: It has nothing to do with Donald Trump if that's what you are getting at. Five eyes existed before trump and will continue to exist after the Donald. Once a person is seen as a major security threat. Like Assange is...well.. he is in some serious shit.
