russian keyboard in XP?

How do I configure it? Can I create a custom keyboard file, with keys defined like I like them?

I did this in Win 98, but never done it in XP.

If you simply want to switch between the two languages, you can add Russian via the Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Languages tab -> Details then add Russian.

If you want to map a keyboard layout that is different then than what windows thinks is standard for Russian, then I don't know.

Yes, the standard Russian keyboard sucks! I already have a custom keyboard map from Win98, anyway I can convert it to XP? Since .kbd files no longer exist in XP, what file determines keyboard layout?

I did come across this: Tradekeys at PCMag.

(Would you get more replies if you changed the title to something like "how does keyboard mapping work in XP?")

If you want, I can get you a modified "KBDRU.DLL" which will make english letters correspond to russian ones pretty close, such as english 'a' will be equal to russian 'a', 'm' equals 'm', etc.. All you'll have to do is to replace the "kbdru.dll" in \Windows\System32 with the one I give you and switching between different keyboard layouts will be a simple as just pressing CTRL+SHIFT.

Let me know if you'll want that file. Send me E-Mail or PM. Udachki!
