PLUS.. I seem to remember that Putin called on Chirac and Schroeder for a "special" meeting just last week and did NOT call on BLair to meet with them.

Interesting. I would say that Cold War II could be about to start. Only problem is that even if France, Germany, and Russia were to combine forces they still couldn't come close to us militarily or financially. As it is it's just three used to be major powers who are now doing anything they can to try and make themselves important again. Sorry chumps....ain't gonna happen so just sit back, have some caviar, vodka, and a bit of strudel, relax and try to enjoy your 2nd class status.

How would Bush and Blair react if this is true? Would it just ruin relations completely or would there be some type of serious consequence?

They will make a behind the scene deal for sumthin nice. To make a huge deal out of this publicly would be destabilising. Right now I figure that France, Germany and Russia are getting the proverbial short end of the stick behind the scenes and they are scared.

Russia is the most capable country of sending a couple back at us. You dont want to start a fight with Russia.

Big difference between spying on us and giving intelligence to a country we are at war with.

I don't see what the big deal is. We spy on them, they spy on us. It's been going on for a loooooong time.

I guess the difference is that the former Soviet Union was considered an arch enemy, and Russia is trying to get on our good side.

This is NOT just spying. This is spying, and then giving the information to a nation we are AT WAR WITH. That is not the act of a nation who wants to be our ally.

People have sex, and have been doing it practically forever. But if you come home and find your significant other shagging the mailman, are you just gonna kiss and make up?

Did you even read the Article? The top secret report is dated Mar 5, 2002, more than a year before we were in war with Iraq.

I agree that Russia's actions don't lend themselves to a country that wants to be our ally. I can't say that they are wrong, since they are their own country and can do what they want, but to do this and expect aid from us is pretty stupid.

Sheesh, back when it was made public that the US was doing it's fair share of spying in the days leading up to the doomed 2nd resolution vote (which never happened), all we heard from you guys was "So? Everybody does it." Now that somebody else is doing it everyone's taking a completely different stance. What's up with that?

Anyone know why the Russians were collecting information on Bin Laden for the Iraqis?

IB French news won't report this....nor Russian.
They have been playing french news at night on CSPAN. All they keep showing for hours on end is these few people in the back of baghdad that hate America and blame us for everything.

Not only that, but Russian spying warrants a nuclear attack according to some...

What do you expect, the French government controls the media, I doubt Soviet television is much more independent themselves.
