Interesting to hear that Russian citizens may have fled - I hope so.

I would have to say if Russia has gained and lost Sevastopol 4-5 times in the last several hundred years that would indicate to me they consider it nationally important for some reason or another.
whoops I probably phrased that poorly, the port has been taken by enemy military/navy during the crimean war, ww1, ww2, and a ruso-turkish war. the russians have tended to scuttle their own ships to block the mouth of the bay to prevent enemy ships from reaching the base while relying on shore guns to defend the bay. they got the base back after the wars ended.

Pretty damn funny how Putin is now claiming he is being victimized by the western democracies when it's actually the whole point and purpose of it all as far as how the U.S. and our allies see things. Putin starts some shit, gets schooled in how to lose a war by the UKR and blames the west for killing his troops that are busy committing atrocities by his own orders.

It's like Putin is running his own version of The Big Lie blaming Biden for cheating in the war against him when in fact it is he, under his own personal directives who is losing the war he started because he mistakenly overestimated his military's abilities while underestimating the fortitude, cunning and skills of the UKR military and its peoples. Too many easy victories under his belt got him thinking Ukraine would just be another pushover nation to subjugate like the others.

Well, it would have been a quickie had they taken Kyiv in the first few days as planned.
So why didnt that happen? Besides all the Russian fumbles, UKR had foreign intelligence in their corner from day one. Remember Zelenskyy actually trying to play down the Biden adminstrations daily callouts of Putins intentions?
When the blitz on Kyiv fumbled he shoulda pulled the fuck out.
The entirety of FSB being flushed down the toilet tells you all you need to know about that side of the story. Superior intelligence vs Beavis and Butthead.

This is such a big deal.

Biden always seems to know exactly what the Russians are going to do next in this conflict. Even before the Russian army knows what it is going to do.

Still just talk but just a hall of fame bad idea for a lot of reasons.
Yeah there is some twitter talk that Azov will be declared a terrorist organisation inside Russia and the fighters will not become part of the usual exchanges of personnel between Russia and Ukraine.

But there is a get out of jail card I think. Captured Chechen's are worth gold apparently. Ukraine can get anyone in exchange from a captured Chechen. No questions asked.

What would Putin do if Ukraine had 200 captured Chechens? Make Kadyrov happy? Or mine the gold in a public trial?

Not really. Just selling stores to somebody else to continue the business. It would be better if they (and all the others) pulled all franchise deals and disallowed the use of their names and brands.

They avoid PR hit and make money out of it. Fucking corporate cowards!

Man, the Russians and Trump GOP really are long lost brothers. Just destruction of everything with no regard.

Add Saddam Hussein to that infamous list and the troika of destructive/self-destructive megalomaniacs is complete.

Pretty much makes sure no other Ukrainians will surrender.

Might get a bunch of Russians butchered on tiktok too. If Putler doesn't have time for agreed to prisoner exchanges, then Kyiv might not have time for prisoners at all. Got enough already. Those guys wouldn't stop fighting, we had to wipe them out. Anyway...

I hope it's just their batshit media doing their thing as usual. The Russian duma are a bunch of rubber stamping nutjobs, they could follow through out of spite and further complicate Russia's ugly fall towards disaster - all while giving Ukraine more world sympathy. But those defenders deserve to retire peacefully after what they've been through. That many of them are probably being "interrogated" right now, might be disappeared or put on sham trial, it turns my stomach.

Yep, another thing to ponder is, can you Imagine Trump doing the same?
Right?
Had Trump won 2020 there is a super good chance Ukraine would be Belarus 2.0 right now.
