The Russian Navy's final report on the disaster concluded the explosion was due to the failure of one of Kursk's hydrogen peroxide-fueled Type 65 Torpedoes.

Strange they were still using Hydrogen Peroxide in the year 2000.

Hydrogen Peroxide fuel is some dangerous crap. The US stopped using hydrogen peroxide (and the Mark 16 Torpedo) a long time ago. The Hyd. Peroxide had to be constantly monitored with a bubble counter and if it started to activate it was dumped over the side immediately.

That does sound nuts. OTTO-II is pretty insane too though. I remember being told many times to never get near it as it would poison you through skin contact.

I'm curious pcgeek, were you a missile technician or a gunner's mate?

If so in your opinion are the 2nd best (lol) navy in the world 50 years behind us?

Otto Fuel-II is also some nasty stuff. But is is stable and the torpedo's are fueled and sealed before they are loaded onboard the submarine.

The Mk 14's used alcohol, compressed air and water to make steam for the turbine.

The Mk 37 had a dry cell battery that wasn't activated (made wet) until launch.

I started out in the Navy as a Submarine Torpedoman Mate and Missile Launch Technician for the A2 Polaris Missile Systems ( back then the Missile Techs took care of the missile and the torpedomen took care of the launch system). Also attended Demolition and Emergency Distruct Training.

Soon afterwards I converted over to Missile Technician when I realized there isn't a good after retirement job field for blowing up shit, even though it is a lot of fun. Missile Techs had great electronics training.

Yes, the Russian Navy sucked then and they suck even worse now it seems. It seems they are very far behind us they were using Hyd Peroxide in 2000. We canned that starting in 1972 and the Mark 14 alcohol fueled torpedo soon after.

When I retired they were using the Mark 48 ADCAP with Otto Fuel II and the 6 cylinder swash plate engine.

Deporable Republicans in GA. Probably next to the district that elected MTG. What is wrong with people?

More deplorable behavior
Matt Gaetz Fires Back at Critics After Sitting Through Zelensky Speech (msn.com)

Gaetz and Boebert seem to believe capital security rules don't apply to them.

Next time they try to flip off security they should be tazered and cuffed. And I hope the pederast resists.

As I said, it's Indias right to pick it's own position. But that said it's going to have to live with the repercussions of those positions.

They're doing a stellar job being stupid

I'm pretty sure they could buy F15's F16's and F35's but they choose to have MiGs and sukhoi's.

Gonna cause them problems later on down the line.

Actually India choose Rafale over Eurofighter, to replace certain MiGs and Sukhois. SU-30MKI is being retained for air dominance I believe.

India didn't like the price of F-35, also there was beef about adding indigenous software IIRC. Only Israel gets that kind of treatment. Adir has EWS of Israeli design, they have their own helmet too I think.

The "rules" are whatever we want them to be, and some people, like Fox News, want Russian victory.
Last night's Trucker was absolutely disgusting. Full throttle on the lies and the propaganda, anything to get Americans to hate Ukraine and favor genocide.

And make no mistake, my local Trumpers are ready to storm Kyiv and take it themselves after listening to Fox News. Completely 100% in the tank for Russia and anything that favors Putin.

Tucker Carlson would care less if Russia invaded Ukraine, as long as we’re not footing the bill for it. I’m sure the war pigs in this thread will disagree though…

In 1971 you were required to give up all your seized territory as a prerequisit for ending the war.

Why is that so hard for Russia to understand or do the rules only apply to India but not Russia?

For India, 1971 was a war for liberation, not conquest. In that same spirit, we had returned 98,000 POWs back to Pakistan unharmed.
