What has surprised me so far is the poor all-around performance of the RU forces.
I posted this tweet earlier which could explain things;

There are also reports on twitter of citizens capturing conscripts where the conscript tells his captors that they didn't really know what was going on. Or why they were there.

Some more stuff from twitter...

So it looks like the Ukrainians are digging in and will giving Russia their all.

Do you love me @nicalandia :D

I hadn't seen the conscript one - does not surprise me at all. I read the Snake Island, just is one example, Antonov airport another that RU is not going to intimidate UA with what Russia has deployed so far. Just piss Ukraine off. :)

Interesting that the US is openly flying 4 KC-135 (stratotankers) over Poland and Romania, not overly far from the Ukrainian border. Although whatever they are being used for isn't visible on flightradar24. As a guess, probably helping keep a number of NATO fighters on more extended combat air patrols to keep forces from wandering into NATO land.
Biden is placing and moving military pieces in eastern European NATO allies to reassure them we will defend the Eastern members against any Russian aggression

Yeah, not a good looking first day for Ru. Wee bit embarrassing on the live international stage.

Javelin's and NLAW's along with those Turkish drones seem to be doing a lot of damage at the moment, i hope they have plenty

Here is a translation from someone in the comments.

They're asking names, where they're from, what's the mission, where are you going, where they disembarked from - they were training in Crimea and didn't know they were in Ukraine - They're hesitating to answer questions about the commanders name

TBH what surprised me is how well covered this is. All the tweets and other social media. The interviews and cell phone videos. It's kinda crazy
I quite any MSM a long time ago and rely on reliable on-line sources now. In this case OSINT sources have been superb and their analysis as good as anything else. Nation-state intel sources obviously have more resources. But for live, real-time or near real-time reporting, then the open source feeds for me are the go to

F-35's are in the region.
Between that and other assets that magically not show up on radar when you remove Luneberg reflectors we are probably getting a lot of data from Ukraine and Belarus.

Do you have any thoughts about the multiple Russian captives that say they didn’t know they were attacking Ukraine? To me that’s hard to believe in the sense that you can’t have a comprehensive battle plan without your soldiers at least knowing the basic idea.
