Pretty awesome how people are supporting the warfighters over there, just look at this spread of fresh food Having a real meal is as important for the mind as it is the body, one more Ukrainian advantage here. Busting ass outside in winter? You need calories.

Meanwhile Yuri the conscript is subsisting on stolen food, vodka and MREs older than him.

During 'Nam, the majority of Americans supported our slaughter of millions of Vietnamese, for no good strategic reason whatsoever, due to similar blinders.
I got better.

I remember seeing an old copy of Time or Newsweek or something, that broke the story of My Lai (with absolutely horrifying photographs). The letters page was full of Americans writing to say "why are you reporting this stuff, whose side are you on? These things happen, they're all commies anyway".

I would say though that I'm surprised Russians didn't already learn that lesson in Afghanistan. Do they really need to learn it all over again?

CNN ran a very interesting article about ukranian food tradition and the ability to store food. sadly, it was in part precipitated by Stalin's genocide of the ukranian people. During the Holodomor, more than 4 million people died in two years  :disrelieved:

We didn't learn the lesson in 'Nam. See the second Iraq war.

Personally, I tend to lean toward GWB’s actions surrounding Iraq by GWB’s and the ultra Warhawk cons wanting to “finish” the job GHWB left incomplete…wiping out Iraq and offing Saddam.

Sadly, seems in hindsight the elder Bush knew exactly what would be the end result of eliminating Saddam and his govt. GWB and his blood thirsty cabal just refused to understand…either by sheer stupidity or willful ignorance. Prob combo of both.

There have been some more rumblings about Germany supplying tanks again from a lot of corners. We'll see if it comes to anything. I think the US has increased pressure on the German government to do it.

Rheinmetall previously said they could deliver upwards of 50-100 Leopard 1s pretty quickly. Though Ukraine might want Leopard 2s which would have a longer lead time since they'd have to be reconditioned units. Germany's old excuses were that nobody was delivering tanks to Ukraine (false) and that there was no ammo for the what is the most common by far non-Soviet caliber tank gun (L7 on the Leopard 1) ever produced (false).

push out anti-war director, march in and steal priceless Picasos, Rembrandts, Degas, etc. Arson and then do fraudulent insurance claim for museum and now "destroyed-beyond-recognition; Da, of course!" priceless artworks.

store actually-not-destroyed artworks in oligarch's Swiss chateau for a ~generation. Watch them magically "reappear after feared lost!"

There was a large (presumably) GMLRS strike on Russian forces in Melitopol yesterday. Lot of videos surfacing today of damage and Russian casualties. This is about 80km from the front.

Either the Ukrainians rolled some launchers basically right up to the front line at night or they're using something with more reach from them.

Assuming this wreckage was recovered from the site in Melitopol there is a good chance the US is supplying Ukraine with limited numbers of ER-GMLRS now. Lockheed might have accellerated their plans to cut the model into production sooner than usual due to Ukraine and customer demand. Only about a hundred units from low rate initial production were supposed to be available anytime soon.

If this is the case hard to see how the US/EU doesn't also buy them the GLSDB.

An informative historical presentation on what security concerns Putin must now worry about on its northwestern border, what with Finland and Sweden deciding to join NATO due to Putin's disastrous military excursion into Ukraine. Putin really fucked himself up in that region. St. Petersburg and Murmansk is now at further risk.

So I don't know if it was Donetsk or Donetsk region, but I was told yesterday that there was a gathering of "DPR" officials, orc commanders and what not for a fancy dinner in recent days, that the Ukrainians learned about and sent a greeting via HIMARs, killing all 50+ of the gathered leadership.

Either I missed that here or it hasn't been posted. Anyone saw anything about that? Is this that thing?

The number of GMLRS strikes on targets in the east and south appears to have intensified in a series of large high profile attacks on Russians in Melitopol, Donetsk city, Svatove, etc. I presume units and ammunition have been shifted away from Kherson now that they hold everything west of the river.

Russians get to better concentrate their forces but Ukraine gets to more heavily use its ranged weapons on those forces resulting in some significant unpleasantness for them.

Sounds like it might be a thing, supposedly Kadyrov's best buddy was present when the clock struck HIMARS o'clock.

Murad Saidov, rest in pieces? I'm good with that. I think this guy was keeping an eye on Kadyrov's nephew, Khasan Ibragimov, after giving him his job. Means Kadyrov may have lost more than one close person there if that attack was legit. Maybe this helps the stylish Ramzan call it quits, or maybe he stays the course, continues to lose friends and family in order to help the destroyers of Grozny. Either works for the Ukrainians.
