US expects Ukraine to fall within 96 hours.

US and Europe won’t cut Russian off from SWIFT yet. Will they when Russia finishes taking over Ukraine. Russia should now be treated like North Korea.
Unfortunately this isn’t the worst Putin can do yet. Bombing civilians is next escalation. Mass acts of genocide next.

Actual invasion of a non former Soviet state country next. Even this may not get actual armed interaction from NATO. Only if Putin becomes bold enough and attack a NATO country before armed conflict happens instead of just economic sanctions.

I'm happy to hear this, but I'm also really worried about what kind of escalation we might see from Putin should he start to be thrown on the defensive. I can't believe I'm doing this again, but I'm out to get some supplies like at the beginning of the pandemic. I know it won't do much long run if we end up with nuclear catastrophe, but I don't want to be a part of any mass-panic toilet paper hoarding. Putin has no way out of this now. It's do or die (and probably take as many with him as possible if it's this).
I've made it a point to not be low on supplies since the pandemic started. Weeks of food for all residents of the house. Human, feline, lizard, and roach.

Europe doesn't, yet. Though the bank sanctions will be almost as bad from what I read. Rouble is crashing and a run on the Russian banks is expected. They've stockpiled dollars but it's not going to last forever.

Interesting that the US is openly flying 4 KC-135 (stratotankers) over Poland and Romania, not overly far from the Ukrainian border. Although whatever they are being used for isn't visible on flightradar24. As a guess, probably helping keep a number of NATO fighters on more extended combat air patrols to keep forces from wandering into NATO land.

Surely fueling up the CAPs. I know a lot of people are all "the US doesn't have much there" but we've had plenty of time to stack up resources from closer nations plus what we have in theatre. If Putin sets one pinky toe into NATO territory it's getting blown off in a nanosecond.

The EU is enforcing banking restrictions, and by restrictions I mean bans in trade and loans.

It's basically the same thing.

The US isn't as of yet but should. It was a threat and now that the full scale invasion has been realized you kinda have to unless you want to be seen standing there holding your cock in shame.

This invasion looks like it was intended to "decapitate" Zelenskiy's government, and most likely install his puppets. But it is hard to see Ukrainians accepting leadership installed by Moscow. Putin better watch it. There's been some pretty nasty unintended consequences of Russian invasions. The 1979-1989 Russian invasion of Afghanistan is widely believed to have been a contributing factor in the rise, and creation, of the Taliban and Al Qaeda. A parallel situation could occur wherein a “rebel force” arose that was motivated not by Jihad, but by Democracy. It's more compelling to follow a flag that symbolizes a free and independent sovereign state that can decide its own future and form a government free from foreign domination. Ukraine had a functioning government and a democracy. They have been invaded by Russia and it looks like Putin will impose a government that suits him. Something run by reliable strong man who knows how to put down dissent. Some thug like Lukashenko.

Fighting against that is a pretty uniting concept for a partisan army.

They fucking need our help. This is Russia showing off how incredibly weak we are.

If they invade Poland next, we'll still be standing there, holding our cocks with our head bowed arguing that it's not worth it.

The time has come to do more than to provide a few thousands to surrounding areas because if Putin can do this unopposed then the Baltic states are next and then Poland and the US will be sitting there with their thumb up their arse saying "we will not get involved in Europe's war" for a decade.

Do I think the US would get involved if Putin decides to take Germany? No, absolutely not.

It's time for the EU to build a force stronger than any other so we can actually deal with this, every nation in Europe should have enough nukes to finish Russia off. End this bullshit where the fate of Europe depends on a fucking madman in the east and a nation in the west that kinda doesn't really give a fuck.

Various reports essentially matching Ukrainian defense statements about the Russian airborne landing at Gostomol being a complete debacle.

UK air defense not sufficiently suppressed to bring in paratroopers to reinforce.

I don't get why people are worried Putin is going to try to invade NATO soil. Or even lob so much as a single grenade onto it. He is going to have a hard time even taking Ukraine. I think he's bitten off more than he can chew and the fact that he's already offering to make a deal makes me think he's already lost.

If this is how they are performing against Ukraine the Russians would get absolutely taken apart if they came for Poland or the Baltics.

Exactly. Putin isn’t looking to invade any country. But which former Soviet state would be next on his list?

Like I said I think he's already failing in Ukraine. No point in speculating further ahead at this point. I wouldn't be surprised to hear he gets assassinated by his own people in the near future. Whoever does it would be a world hero and could build Russia into a nice country.
