By the way for a fun time revisit this op-ed from Putin in 2013 about Syria, an op-ed people here demanded we take sincerely. This was a country where the government really was engaged in mass killing of its citizens, not some false flag bullshit.

You guys got rid of your Nuclear Reactors which are non carbon emitting. Now you pay the Pied Piper.

Not really. Not by much, anyway.

U.S. nuclear electricity generation capacity peaked in 2012 at about 102,000 MW when there were 104 operating nuclear reactors. At the end of 2020, there were 94 operating reactors with a combined generation capacity of about 96,555 MW. From 2014 through 2018, annual nuclear generation capacity and electricity generation increased each year even as the number of operating reactors declined. Power plant uprates—modifications to increase capacity—at nuclear power plants have made it possible for the entire operating nuclear reactor fleet to maintain a relatively consistent total electricity generation capacity. These uprates, combined with high-capacity utilization rates (or capacity factors), helped nuclear power plants maintain a consistent share of about 20% of total annual U.S. electricity generation from 1990 through 2019. Some reactors also increased annual electricity generation by shortening the length of time reactors are offline for refueling.

.

Still, I agree we should be commissioning new reactors. Solar, wind, nuclear. All of the above, please.

I thought the only move to prevent this was to move in US and NATO troops into Ukraine months ago and keep them near Ukrainian military sites and call Putin's bluff if he would really essentially attack the west.

Biden indirectly called out China. Anyone that supports Putin will also have negative consequences against them

Edit - reporter asked have you talked to Xi to help support this fight against Putin. I’m not ready to comment about this yet

Tough to say if that would have actually prevented this. Putin could have claimed that NATO troops were now occupying a non-NATO nation and use that as justification that NATO was at Russia's doorstep, which would be in Russia's eyes legitimate reason to strike first.

Yup. And just like many saying impose sanctions first. The west couldn’t do any aggressive move first.

I thought you were German... They did got rid of their Nuclear Reactor

No. Just checked it and you're correct, in Germany they have 6 reactors. Three were shut off just months ago, and the other three will suffer the same fate by the end of this year. Nuclear accounted for 11% of their grid. This was a very foolish move.

Perhaps these events will cause them to rethink decommissioning the remaining three reactors as they were counting on Nord Stream 2 and that isn't happening.

This is on the west side of Kyiv. The RU forces have attempted airheads at a couple airports both east and west of Kyiv. If this report is in fact accurate, it is a major victory for UA forces.

Global: MilitaryInfo on Twitter: "Per an adviser to the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Hostomel airfield is back under Ukrianian control." / Twitter

I think Russian assessment, or at least Putin's anyway, was that the Ukrainian forces would basically melt away under fire. Doesn't mostly seem to be the case.

Based on some of the pics I've seen looks like at least some of the missiles the allies sent are being put to work.

Since China has sanctioned this, I still think US and NATO or the equivalent in SEA should move troops to Taiwan and deny China access. The first ones in wins.

I agree. A RU infantry air brigade is supposedly among the better units, light infantry but well trained. Wonder if the RU got held up longer than planned around Chernobyl and couldn't make their drive down the P56 highway giving more time for UA to beat off that airfield attack
