I’m in the Midwest, might be regular test flights but usually they’re not out this time of year.

Probably a Chinook....They fly over my place in North Dallas a few times a month...Got this shot a few months ago with a soldier hanging off the ramp....

I checked ADS-B (which does track some military flights) but didn't see any current Chinook activity over the US...(I can always see the ones that fly over)...

You know about the "Mutually Assured Destruction" Assumption? In a Russia vs NATO Nuclear War, just how Mutual of a destruction be? How many countries of NATO would be left? Who would fair the worst?

Feel very sad for the people of Ukraine who were working nicely to improve their lot in life. Then some murderous dickhead destroys it all because he's butthurt Russia doesn't have its empire anymore.

People are out of their mind if they think the US/G7 is going to do anything except economic sanctions. Possibly some cyber attacks. They will never be direct military aid except some weapons perhaps. Certainly no serious US/NATO hardware. Not with an unhinged loon in charge of a large nuclear arsenal.

Wow, looks just like the one I saw fly over about 3 or 4 months ago. Probably a Marine contingent flying out of Bangor for some reason. The back door was open and you could see solders in there.

I'm very proud of those Russian citizens who are choosing to stand up to their government. Not that standing up to the government is anything special, at least not to western countries, but to see them stand up to Putin's government, that is worth applauding.

Putin just threatened his "enemies" with nukes.

Might be past time for the full court press

You really shouldn't be looking at degrees of destruction. The entire world economy would collapse. Multiple governments would collapse. It would be the end of civilization as we know it.

Export controls.
Bank sanctions. Freezing all US assets.
More oligarch sanctions (TBA).
Commitment to further bolster NATO in Eastern Europe.
US->Germany deployments

As for Germany and the EU, dammit, I've been saying for two decades that in addition to curbing climate change, there are huge geopolitical benefits to ending dependence on foreign non-renewable energy, as with both the Arab states and Russia. And now we are seeing the truth of that quite vividly.

The entire world should have listened to the scientists who have been sounding this alarm since the 1980's, and quite loudly since the mid 90's. We should have ended fossil fuel dependence by now. We had the time to do it. Now we have a situation where the EU must continue trading with a rogue militaristic dictatorship to keep their lights on.
