Spare me your misconceptions of what it takes to actually fight a war.
GDP Spending does not equate with SIZE of the military.
200 jets which cost half a billion each does not equate to having men armed and ready to fight.
In 1985 we had 2.2 million active duty military personnel. Today that number is about 1.2 Million.
it took 16 million US troops to fight WW2... you seem to be off by about a factor of 15.
In 2003 the Iraqi military actives outnumbered the US 2-1. If you count their reserves they outnumbered us 4-1. The US completely destroyed that army at the total cost of ~750 casualties.

So tell me again how much the size of the military matters. Share with us your deep knowledge about what it takes to fight a war. Lol.

Have you booked your tickets yet to fly East so you join the Ukrainian Army? Are you putting your body where your mouth is or do you just want to send other Americans to die? Modern weapons systems are magnitudes more accurate and lethal than weapons from WW2. You need fewer weapons and men to destroy shit than you used to.

And the firepower of a battleship has been replaced by a ship with a crew of ~150. It's apples/oranges.

Chernobyl attacked

I was worried about this. Wonder how the surrounding areas will feel about radioactive dust possibly spreading their way because of the invasion. Definitely a complicating factor.

If he plans on fighting WWIII like WWII was fought, I think the US/UN Army should come out on top pretty easily.

what are the failures? They aren't failures just because you claim they are failures.

Be specific. What has the Biden administration actually done that is a failure?

Hurt your feelings? Make it more difficult for you to live out your infanticide fantasies along the border?

What exactly has gotten your chap in a twist about Biden?

He went answer because he’s a traitor and his only goal at this point is to further weaken America anyway he can.

Some obvious next steps:

1. Cut off SWIFT - have to do this now
2. Add more individuals (oligarchs) to the sanctions list - don't be conservative here, if they're even rumored to have a connection add them
3. Per #2, seize assets - accounts in west, yachts, properties, planes, whatever
4. NATO membership for Sweden and Finland - now more reasons from both sides for this, worry about details later
5. Include Belarus in all of the above as well - pariahs all around, the more the merrier

I think they already deployed a few (8?) like 2 weeks ago. IIRC, it was to Poland though. Might have to dig that up.

Yeah, that's my recollection. US moving some out of Germany now and I think the Dutch too.

Increasing buildup of NATO forces to be expected.

I'll also add 6) halt all visas from Russia to any country willing. Isolate them to their own country until further notice.

Wouldn't #1 be so severe as to be essentially considered an act of war?

I figure as long as Taiwan is by far the best/greatest producer of high end semi-conductor chips they will have major international support against Chinese take-over.

I agree. Problem is, support Vs. 100 miles between mainland China and Taiwan. Can support get there before the Chinese can? Probably not. The Chinese don't really need anybody else if they wanted to hunker down and press.

Addendum to #4
4. Despite the "A" in the name, consider preemptively adding AU, NZ, Japan, SK to deter our "friends" in SE Asia. The first two are already tied to several main members via five eyes, the latter two through existing large scale deployments.

WW II began around 20 years after WW I. It's been 77 years since the end of WW II. Much more significant is the virtually exponential development of military weapons, beginning with the atom bomb, soon followed by the hydrogen bomb. The potential for massive retaliation along with the prospect of radiation proliferation have made all out warfare not unthinkable, but certainly unacceptable. Even Trump couldn't have done this (he could have tried but would have been thwarted) and I don't believe it's going to happen.

War between nations now will only happen if at least one of those nations does not have nuclear weapons. One nation can bully another, even try to absorb it (witness what's happened in the last 24 hours), the only deterrence internationally is by virtue of sanctions and direct aid, which can be multifaceted.

We should use a drone strike to take out Putin. He's no different than the ISIS or Taliban thugs that we have taken out by drones. While this isn't our fight and we should not send troops to Ukraine, but we could send a couple of dozen fighter jets to take out a good bit of the armaments surrounding Ukraine.

The problem with #1 is that almost certainly leads to Russia cutting off the gas to Europe, which is probably survivable for now - but come this fall, if not resolved, would leave Europe with blackouts and freezing by winter.
