yikes, sounds like he is really going for a total takeover

Exactly as the west was saying for weeks. attacks have occurred across Ukraine, well outside of the illegitimate independent states. Plus troops arriving in other areas of Ukraine.

Hopefully the sanctions destroy Putin and his henchmen. I'd also like to see some cyber attacks thrown in for good measure. Perhaps by the end of the week, both the Russian civilians and the oligarchs force Putin to pull back.

Wouldn't it grand to see a real coup because of this nonsense over Ukraine?

So what's China saying about this? Should be interesting (comical) to hear from their ambassador at the UN about this "special military operation" that Putin has initiated.
The Chinese will just say, "This looks fine and dandy, like cotton candy" and then start shifting its gaze back to Taiwan. You know, the usual mumble mumble historically that land was a part of Russia, they have legitimate claim to it, just like we do with Taiwan, yadda yadda.

In what world does this benefit Putin more than it hurts him? It just seems like a truly idiotic decision from all angles.

This is how it will be. I wouldn't get all upset about this unless we truly want a war directly between the US and Russia. Do we?

Russia has gone beyond pushing for some free independent states. This is the complete destruction of Ukraine.
Suffice it to say, Russian forces across the globe should be systematically engaged.
But the west will likely cede land rather than protect the innocent. Even if 44 million Europeans must be sacrificed. That'll just be the start, now that we have shown our weakness. We will retreat time and again, this is the beginning of a new era of the world stage.

"For crimes against the Slavic people" has a nice ring to it, yeah a real coup would be great. Personally I think a Ukrainian taking Putin off the board with polonium tea would be even better. Would save the world, and Russia, a lot of grief and with just a hint of vengeful irony.

I think only completely overwhelming protests could do it, along with people working for him walking out. And even then the shitbag would probably still send in his counter Maidan forces. He'd sooner have Russians beat up and dead at home than quit his Soviet Union revival. I think only a massive KIA list can achieve the outcry we'd like to see. Ukrainians will have to go it like the Viet Cong, get close and 'grab them by the belt.' Definitely easier when you have jungles to hide in, let's hope the time they've had to prep will pay off.

Edit: Russians are protesting the invasion in large numbers. Well done people. Mind the Cossacks.

I never post in P&N, but I stopped in to quickly say fuck Putin and Russia for this decision. However, I fear Ukraine won't be the only nation this happens to in the coming years as Putin in a fucking power hungry psychopath.

I'm now showing myself back out.

This is such a shame. And I fear this will get out of control, especially when it comes to cyber attacks.

Due to the ineffective and senile leadership of this country by Biden and his useless choice for vice-president Harris we now have a maniac like Putin following in the footsteps of Hitler.

Time to make a new fucking thread, he's invaded the Ukraine already, no "brink" anymore.

You would have preferred to have trump fluffing Putin and helping him instead I'm sure.

Any confirmation available of airborne ops against Kiev Airport or amphibious assault on Odessa? Just saw I post from Marco Rubio that I can't find sources for.

CNN is showing tanks entering from Belarus.
