It's better than wishing for that traitor to win. It would be death to democracy.
Who's wishing for another Trump to win? I'm just saying it's extremely delusional to think that the current brainwashed conservatives are going to suddenly wake up from their mass delusion that has been cultivated for the past 30+ years. Sure, we can hope for that, but if we live in reality, we would realize it's a pretty futile hope.

Don't normally hear Russian (or other) Orthodox described as Catholic. Maybe they technicallly are (I don't know much about theology)

Putin seems to have good relations with the Russian Orthodox Church. He makes a point about being a member of that faith. It seems as if he's taken it further than Stalin did (who came to a sort of uneasy 'accomodation' with the church).

Apparently Russian Orthodox monks in Ukraine have sided openly with Russia.

(I think Putin's Christian affilliation is connected to why the global far-right like him so much. It proably explains his homophobia and patriarchal beliefs.)

As does Trump with our own conservative religious sects. He gives them a seat at the table, whispers sweet nothings in their ears, feeds them peanut shells and grit swept up from the grindstone floor and in return he gets their vote of approval despite the fact that he is by all accounts a disbeliever, an admitted racist, and a criminal notorious for his lies and dehumanizing those that defy his whims.

This unholy matrimony between religious conservatives and fascist despots that rely on each other for mutual benefit is despicable on its face and a creeping rot of their souls.

I find it odd, really. How the 'old ways' never went away with the advent of the 'new' (i.e. atheistic Bolshevism - even Stalin, educated in a seminary and trained for the priesthood, never, as far as I know, really considered himself a Christian, he just found it politically useful to come to an arrangement with the Orthodox Church). The "old ways" just continued to co-exist, in a subdued and quieter form.
Hence Putin having a believer for a mother, and apparently continuing to regard himself as a Christian - of a specifically Russian type - even as he rose through the KGB. Then when the 'new' faded away again with the collapse of communism, the 'old' (Russian orthodox Christianity coupled with Russian nationalism) was still there, waiting to reassert itself.

Likewise in the US, Christianity just adapted and merged and intermarried with both white supremacism and mammon-worshipping capitalism.

The flaw in this poll is the same flaw that presented itself when Obama was elected. It was unfashionable to be openly racist. It's now unfashionable to be pro Putin even though that been the rights position for the last 10 years.

When Trump was elected, he gave express permission to be openly racist. The right is just keeping their love of evil dormant for now. They will attach their love to another dictator in the future. However, Fox News and Tucker Carlson are still parroting Russian propaganda.

This is true. They are itching for any excuse to get behind Putin. QKK is already jumping on that biological weapon horse shit.

Putin appears to take it further than Stalin did, though. Apparently Putin's mother was a believer and he has made a point occasionally about being of that faith himself. Stalin just came to an uneasy 'arrangement' with the Church, Putin seems to actually be a Christian. Which doesn't do much for my opinion of Christianity.
That's a total BS lie that Putin likes to cultivate. He is 100% on board with using the devotion of Russian Orthodox Christians to improve his image and curry favor. His is the opposite of a Christian. If he has a spiritual father, it's not God, it's the devil - they are 'soulmates'. Murders and liars from the beginning.

Over the past decades the Democrats have been the actual conservators of democracy whilst the Repubs have been trying to reshape it into a state of fascism while tacitly claiming it being the practical way of saving democracy from the people who don't deserve to enjoy the freedoms democracy brings (Democrats).

Dude as a North Eastern living guy these temps aren’t that cold. They’ll need a moderate coat and ideally a hat.

Boston forecast is very similar and I can assure you Boston is not a frozen wasteland.

The Kiev forecast is substantially colder than Boston—many nights are ~20 F colder.

A lot of these men have no artificial heat sources, and it sounds like they were supplied with rations and gear completely insufficient for a protracted siege.
