How will the world react if he drops a small atom? We prepared for that?
I think the world would do its best to isolate Russia until at least such time as Putin is deposed.

deposed; past participle: deposed
  1. 1.
remove from office suddenly and forcefully.
"he had been deposed by a military coup"

From updates at NYTimes:

In New Hampshire, where liquor and wine are sold through state-run stores, Gov. Chris Sununu, a Republican, announced on Saturday the removal of “Russian-made and Russian-branded spirits from our liquor and wine outlets until further notice.” In Ohio, where the state contracts with private businesses to sell liquor, Gov. Mike DeWine, also a Republican, announced a halt to state purchases and sales of Russian Standard Vodka.

L. Louise Lucas, a top Democrat in the Virginia State Senate, is calling for “the removal of all Russian vodka and any other Russian products” from Virginia’s nearly 400 state-run Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority stores.

And Senator Tom Cotton, Republican of Arkansas, wrote on Twitter, “Dump all the Russian vodka and, alongside ammo and missiles, send the empty bottles to Ukraine to use for Molotov cocktails.”

The Liquor Control Board of Ontario, Canada’s most populated province, announced on Friday that it would remove “all products produced in Russia” from its more than 600 stores. Similar removals were underway in the provinces of Manitoba and Newfoundland, Reuters reported.

If this is really out of Kharkiv, this is so bad. They're just strolling around in the open like its no big deal! None of them look trained except maybe the one in the back who seems somewhat spatially aware that a defender could be behind or in any building they pass?? Actually scratch that, he doesn't look trained at all either, but just maybe aware of the gravity of his situation. I'm guessing none of them will be alive by tomorrow morning. It's really, really sad what Putin is doing to both of these countries.

More from NYTImes:

Chanting “death to Putin,” a crowd of Iranians defied their government, an ally of Russia, by protesting outside the Ukrainian Embassy in Tehran on Saturday night, according to videos posted on social media.

The protest’s organizers had issued a call for people to join a public condemnation of the war in Ukraine and show solidarity with its people. The demonstrators waved Ukrainian flags, clapped their hands and shouted, “Long live Ukraine” and “The Russian Embassy is a den of spies.” Security guards watched over the crowd, which included children, but did not interfere, videos showed.

They are already getting ambushed.

This reminds me of Vietnam. They were used to wars, they weren't going to give in to the US on their soil. The Ukrainian resolve to fight to the death no matter how, in any way they can to maintain their sovereignty appears absolute. Russia cannot win this. There's no way for them to prevail.

Reading the "immediate items to watch" there I think I shall take a break from news reports today and spend some time outdoors.

The Russian forces inside of Kharkiv were ambushed and seems to be mostly neutralised.

Meet in Belarus, seriously? That's a hard no and a complete joke.
Ukraine thought it was a joke too and rejected Belarus. Ukraine wants change the location to Warsaw or some other locations within NATO territory.

People bash Biden, Fox News bashes Biden, but always remember and never forget that if we had Trump we would have shit like THIS:

(CNN) Trump defends praise of Putin even as he calls Ukrainian president 'brave'.
Talk about being confused.

And Fox claims Biden doesn't know what he's doing?
And Fox claims things would be better under Trump?
And Fox claims that Biden is weak while Trump would be strong?
What is this Fox News, some SNL satire skit?

Russia have stated that they will continue with their military operations even during any talks with Ukraine.

So no point.

Disaster for The Vlad, at this point, to regain face as a power to be reckoned with and not a joke, he has to drop the sun. 50% he drops a nuke albeit a small one.

Yeah, its just a sham so Russia can pretend to play lip service that they tried to seek a peaceful resolution. Nevermind that they've said essentially that their terms are they get to murder elected government and install their own Putipuppets.

Or Afighanistan - either the Soviets' version, or the sequel (or was it a remake?). Or Chechnya. Which is why I am puzzled what Putin thinks he is doing. And why I did not at all expect him to actually do this. I admit, I was with Senseamp in thinking nothing would happen after all the military posturing - I got that entirely wrong, it seems.

But Putin surely must know how this goes? Getting in is infinitely easier than finishing it or getting out again. He wasn't asleep during those previous conflicts, surely?

Which in turn is why I'm anxious where this might be heading. He does not seem to be a man with a good grasp of reality.
