Being moored in Sevastopol just got a lot more exiting.

Fish in a barrel, sitting ducks, geese on a platter, shrimp on the barbie, a cackle of cornered hyenas surrounded by a pride of lions....I really wouldn't want to be a sailor on night watch on the deck of a docked Black Sea Russian warship thinking at any given moment the last thing he's going to see is a bright explosive flash under his feet. Sucks large to be a Russian sailor pulling duty at Sevastopol at the moment.

I assume by now Sevastopol is protected by booms and nets but given the range on these things the entire Black Sea fleet can't spend eternity at 30kts when outside of the roadstead...

They say size isn't everything but it definitely is something.

I mean...really? I honestly have no idea what this warfare tech is these days, but I do look at that thing and wonder how it's remotely piloted and maneuverable among black sea topography, and vessels of war, at speed, and be a threat. I mean, maybe? I'm seriously ignorant of this stuff...but I'm thinking no right now?

If nothing else, if this claim is taken seriously where it matters, it does provide some threat response changes from the enemy if they feel their big ships are just too far out at sea now and maybe need to come a wee bit closer to home. You know, for those cruise strikes and such that UKR is really getting good at deep into Crimea.....

I wonder what weapon did they use.

They're not saying but there are a number of known options or they've got something new. More embarrassing perhaps is how a drone was able to loiter near the site and watch the strike...

Ukrainians got a Russian pilot with a Mi-8 to fly it to Ukraine and surrender the aircraft.

The payload was reportedly aircraft parts. He will be well compensated.

So apparently there are some smart Russians left.

-Damn that is brutal, the other crew being killed that is (wonder if by the defecting pilot or by UKR operators). I hope they didn't know each other well.

Not much Espirit De Corps over in RUS...

At some point, if it means your family is safe and you're not going to die in some stupid war you want no part of then I guess it doesn't matter.

Pilot totally killed his crew. If they weren't in on it they wouldn't have kept mum while he headed across the border. Trade two orcs and a chopper full of spare parts for your and your family's safety and ability to leave that shithole? Probably did it with a smile on his face.
