...

Things are definitely not going Putin's way now, Iet it play and let's hope Putin doesn't trigger Article 5 with a cyber attack. If he does, I'd still rather see us unleash the Raptors and take take the skies than put American boots on the ground. That gives Putin an immediate shot in the arm for support, and we want his descent into paranoia, impatience, failure and solitude to continue as much as possible.
If Putin is having this much trouble with Ukraine I think taking on NATO at the same time would end Russia as we know it. It's likely a lot more of the remaining world would join in as well.

Once Putin's army crawls home I hope Ukraine takes back Crimea for the trouble. Maybe kick the shit out of Belarus for good measure.

Without Nukes, Russia has a pretty lousy Army. They would get mauled by the USA.

Thing is, it likely wouldn't be without nukes. It would be Russia using the small-yield ones to prevent that mauling from proceeding too far. The bigs ones like the Sartan are tactical duds, their only uses are for bragging rights and to end the world for everyone.

This perception of US land forces being superior in every way is simply not true anymore. While focusing on terrorism we went lax on "peer confrontation tools and tactics," there are several Russian and Chinese systems that 'out stick' our analogs, and for less money too. We've only begun to address all of this relatively recently.

He came up through the KGB, so a corrupt propagandist, not a military strategist.

He was actually more like a smuggler. Western goods were like crack to Soviet elite back then, and easier to come by in Germany than Russia. He was Mr. Connections.

Do you really think the USA would have any trouble invading Ukraine? If the USA wanted Zelenski would have been take out in the same day the operation started

With Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland (among others) closing airspace to Russian airlines, Kaliningrad is getting pretty isolated.

Also, LH716, Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Tokyo, just did a 180 minutes before entering Russian airspace - now diverting back to Frankfurt.

Edit: looks like all German registered airplanes being told to leave Russian airspace

Right, they're like American women - second class citizens who shouldn't vote and don't get a say over their own bodies.

Spare us what christian dominionists who support the GQP think what a real woman is, you people are a fucking joke.
actually, Ukrainian women are very tough and strong willed. They may still be discriminated against but it is the women that run families. On the farms they work just as hard as men, like my grandmother did.

I have a great deal of respect for Ukrainian and other Eastern European women.

So while China publicly hasn't opposed Russia, they don't strike me as someone who bets on the loosing team. Do they actually want Putin to be weakened? They must have another agenda, or what do you think their stance is?

They are trying to split hairs. A core principle of their foreign policy is that the sovereignty of countries is absolute. Russia invading its neighbor is counter to that.

Yea, it kind of puts them in dilemma over Taiwan.

I honestly don't think Russia can sustain this for a few weeks. They are less than 96 hours in, have committed half their forces (and likely lost half of those).

That's a very confused picture of things. You think and claim a quarter of the Russian invasion force is "lost"?
Even Ukraine claims to have only killed 3,500. Of 190,000 Russians.
The most favorable estimate is that 2% of the invasion force has been defeated.

They claim that many killed. Generally speaking the ratio of wounded to killed is about 3:1. If that’s the case here then you’re getting close to 10% casualties within a couple of days - that’s unsustainable levels of loss. Not to mention presumably a good portion of the 190,000 are support troops and not combat so for the actual combat units the ratio would be higher.

Again, this is all based on estimates you should take with a boulder of salt but if they actually have suffered 3,500 killed so far things are going very, very badly for Russia.
