Not content with destroying food shipping ports, Russia targets food further inland.

Russia targets Ukraine’s farm storage sites after days of hitting Black Sea port facilities
In the attack on the storage site, two of the low-flying cruise missiles hit initially and started a blaze, and then another struck during firefighting efforts, regional Gov. Oleh Kiper said. The barrage injured two people, damaged equipment and destroyed 100 metric tons of peas and 20 metric tons of barley, Kiper said.

eh, it's the Russian way. What you and I call strength isn't the same as how Russians see it. See: history.
For one, consider the coup against roundly unpopular, perpetually inebriated Boris Yeltsin. The tanks were in Red Square, and all it took to calm down the internal invaders was for some aid to prop a stumbling Yeltsin up onto one of the tanks and for him to simply tell them to go home. Suddenly, he was the leader again, and Russians everywhere cried. Or whatever.
See: Wagner insurrection. We look at this as weakening Vlad. The Russians likely don't see it this way. You can pretend you understand this and that what you are saying is correct, but it simply isn't true in Russia. It defies common understanding.
You simply can't understand Russia from a western perspective. You can't. There's a reason that dozens of similar phrases like this have endured for generations.
And there you have it!

Reports are... Putin is speaking of attacking the Baltic states AND Poland.
Wish I had confirmation that these words are being said.

Remember that this is projection. It is Putin affirming that he wants the blood of Lithuanians and Poles.

There is video of him saying this out there.

The Poles would totally body what's left of the Russian military and their arsenal is literally growing by the day.

Alright, these fuckers need to die. Bread may get a little bit more expensive for you and me but for some developing nations, this is fucking bad news.

Not really surprising confirmation that high quality western guns are far superior to their Russian counterparts as long as they are taken care of, which the AFU does a good job of.

The US military switched the M777 barrels to chrome lined after experience in Iraq pt. 2 which has apparently led to an extraordinary increase in useful barrel life.
Same thing being seen on the PzH 2000 which also has a chromed barrel.

Also peep the DPICM shell (diamond markings).

It is bullshit that the Russians launch their missiles in safety from across the border with impunity. Those sites need to be targeted and destroyed, if Ukraine is going to be accused of shit, you may as well be doing it and gaining something from it. Russia is going to Russia whether it's warranted or legal regardless.

They eventually will. The west is boiling the frog with RU, not flash frying it.

So does that mean they have to replace just the barrel after ~40 days or does the whole gun need to be replaced?

This is mostly concerned with barrel life but other parts on the guns can and do break during this time period. From what I've read most are field replaceable/repairable and the Ukrainians are even 3D printing some parts themselves. I think when the time for a heavy overhaul comes that the guns are shipped to Poland.

On the issue of Ukrainians not having the experience to fly F-16's...

Couldnt they spawn a private enterprise like Wagner and contract pilots from all over the world? I am sure there be a lot of retired F-16 pilots out there that wouldnt mind taking another tour for a buck.

Most would likely be offended to take the tour for money.

Get the right CO and Ukraine will have guys lining up around the block. It is the type A mentality fighter pilots have. They spent their entire life training to do one job, and this is their chance to finally do it. To make it all mean something.

... and more importantly, to prove they are the best at it.

Nah - I don’t buy any of this. For example the Wagner rebellion absolutely weakened Putin significantly. It taught people that you can lead an armed rebellion that kills numerous Russian soldiers and marches on Moscow and get away with it. It encourages more of the same. Even worse, people in the streets were cheering Wagner on!

Nobody knows if now Putin is so weak that he will be overthrown but nothing about Russia is particularly confusing. Strength is what matters, and Putin looks weak.

oh so you're the guy that finally figured out Russia, 1500 years later.

sure, buddy.

lol

Something is weird with this Girkin series of events. He is former FSB. So lets assume he is not too shabby in the mental capacity side of things. He knows how things works in Russia. He never went after Putin in any of his previous statements. Because he knew what would happen if he did.

And now he did so anyways.

I think this can only be understood in terms of multiple factions. Its Girkin telegraphing to other factions that he (and the FSB faction that he represents or at least is a member of) is no longer in the orbit of Putin.

Girkin felt he should do this precisely because he believes that Putin is weak and that a change is coming sooner rather than later.

You don't get a seat at the next table if you stay pro-Putin to the very end. At least without some much needed capabilities and/or assets.

You stupid shitheads - Russia is not complicated. It is a mafia state. Once you realize it’s run by organized crime everything makes sense.
So was (and is) Haiti, but Poppa Doc Duvalier stayed in power from 1957 . . . until his death in 1971.

Somoza in Nicaragua stayed in power from 1936 until his death in 1956 . . . and was succeeded by his son.

There are so many other examples it isn't funny.

You’re literally the guy who tried to tell people how Russia is. Lol.

no I didn't. I mentioned a roundly common "analysis" that literally everyone living under Russian occupation for generations and within their sphere have disseminated.

I told you that your and mine and every other western perspective about Russia is pretty much always wrong because, at least the opposite tends to happen in *whatever situation*. ANd you know this as well as I do. I said, as everyone as pretty much always figured out, is that what seems normal to us is not at all true with Russians. This is no mystery to anyone.

In response, you said "nuh uh, my perspective is of course correct because this is how I think." It's like...the most arrogant response to a piece of universally common knowledge with literally zero insight into why you've decided to challenge a common truth.

Yes, it is of course a "mafia state," but it sounds like you're again failing to assume that cosa nostra in Russia operates exactly as it does everywhere else. I don't think anyone else thinks this.
