She looks like she won't age in the face very well, though.

Young sports stars shouldn't be married, though. Marry around when you retire & 8-10's stop throwing themselves at you.

Derek Jeter did more things right than playing baseball well.

They get married 2 years ago when Wilson was not even in the NFL. They get divorced right after Wilson wins a superbowl and before he gets mad money from a new contract.

He could still end of paying out of the ass. I'm not sure what the divorce laws are where he lives but her lawyer (which he of course has to pay for) may bring up the case for "future earnings potential" in court. I know that sort of BS screwed Anthony Cumia ( of the Opie & Anthony show) when he got a divorce.

He'll be bankrupt 2 months after he leaves the league. It doesn't matter who he marries, they will all abandon him.

Is his contract up, yet, or is there talk of a huge extension? Her lawyers could just delay and delay until he gets the payday.

Entering year #3 of a 4 year / $3 million rookie contract, something close to all $3m of it guaranteed. Obviously endorsement deals are going to bolster that number a good bit at this point, being a superbowl willing QB. I would venture that she'll walk away with alimony a-plenty and probably a few million to her name. She'll do fine for herself.

However at the end of this year and going into next year, especially if the Seachickens end up getting to the playoffs or the StupidBowl again and Wilson is responsible for it, he'll be in line for a Peyton/Brady-like contract which means he'll be looking at a paycheck north of $100 million over 5 years. Whatever the case may be, he'll probably be looking at anywhere between a $10m-20m/year contract coming his way. Better yet, another successful year means endorsement deals that will probably push numbers double that. Another Superbowl win could easily push him to $50m/year between contract and endorsements over the next few years.

Cutting dead weight, priceless.

He may have a prenup.

If not Washington state is a community property state, so she will get a NICE payday. It is extremely unlikely she will get alimony because the marriage lasted ~2 years and because she'll get a nice payday due to the community property split.

Either way, she'll still make out pretty good based on today's money no? But he's definitely planning for the future.

That's not to say that there aren't irreconcilable differences or whatnot that transcend money.

if hes made less than 3 million so far, shes not gonna get some great payday, esp given the lifestyle shes probably used to living now, shell spend all of it within a year or so

They can delay the divorce all they want. She won't get part of his next contract because the date of separation would be the date they intended to no longer be married, not when the divorce is finalized(works differently in other states). As of today, she gets nothing from his future contracts, even if he gets a new contract before their divorce is finalized.

That said, she likely gets part(presumption is half) of his current contracts, even if said contracts end after the divorce is finalized.

Endorsements. He has a lot of them. They make him substantially more yearly pay than his Seahawks pay. He reportedly made $million per year off endorsements prior to the SuperBowl. Unsure of what he signed since that time. His net worth is reportedly in the $5-6million range. For merely being married to a jock for two years shes getting a NICE payday that will likely be over $1million. That is unless there is a prenup, which I dont think there is since they were highschool sweethearts. Unless there is infidelity I honestly don't seem him contesting her getting up to half of his current net worth, knowing hes going to be making many times that per year in the near future. Divorcing now and she gets $1-3million. Later that number could have easily been $20-50million.

Well. Yeah hes saving tens of millions of dollars by getting divorced now and not in a year.

As for irreconcilable differences, they have been together since high school. Unless hes cheated, he hasn't been with to many other women. Cynical yes, but its likely a case of the 7+ year itch since they were together so long. Hes 25, been with one women for over 7 years. Now he has fame and fortune and can have any women has wants and doesn't have to put a ring on it/keep them happy.

I would have done the same thing. Well honestly, I probably wouldn't have gotten married at 23 and three months before the NFL draft.

Wilson doesnt come off as being a moron. I suspect he will have a very comfortable life when he retires.

I'm pretty sure all QBs are willing, even those in HS.

Hell, I'm willing to be a super bowl QB. :sneaky:
