Every once in a while there's a celebrity that I believe no one really likes, but that the powers that be in the media support because they're feel that this individual will be huge soon enough, as long as they shove them in your face long enough..

Russell Brand - genuinely funny or a fad in the making?

Hes supposedly popular outside the US, and because of that yes the entertainment industry/his people/the media are pushing him down the throats of the US.

His character was hilarious in FSM now that you point him out, but I have not seen his face since watching that movie right up until I just clicked that link.

Thing is, Russell Brand recently resigned from the BBC in disgrace after some prank phone calls, so basically he's out of work in Britain. He's now basically entrenched in a last stand in the United States, so the media, eager for a fresh face, want to make him more popular and presentable.

I think his next big movie he is in is Bedtime Stories a comedy type film with Adam Sandler.

he's a douchebag.

He was a VJ on MTV very briefly. He showed up for work dressed as Osama Bin Laden on 9/12/01. He was quickly fired.

Seems like i've seen him on the late night circuit lately, mostly Letterman. Mildly humorous at best from what i've seen of him.

I've seen him on Leno and Conan a while back, he doesn't seem very funny and dresses like a homeless pirate.
