So I have been trying to follow the news lately on this Smear Letter wrote from Reid to Mr Mays of the Clear Channel Radio Stations.

Now I see that the letter sold for $2.1million and Rush matched it in efforts to donate to charity. So what is the significance of this letter?

Basically; the Dems tried to pull a political stunt, it backfired on them big time. Then they tried to claim that was their plan all along, but they were exposed by Rush.

He can't, because none of it is true. Rush pulled a swift poltical move to cover up his bashing of our troops in Iraq, whom he called "phony soldiers" for being against the war. Reid (stupidly) tried to liken it to the MoveOn ad, which was worse by comparison. Limaugh then claims later that he was referring to a single soldier that was against the war who was in fact a phony soldier (never fully served). Of course, if that were actually what he meant, why didn't Limbaugh say phony soldier instead of phoney soldiers? His entire demeanor and everything he has said since the war began leave little doubt this fool actually believes that dissent or criticism of the war is in fact unpatriotic.

Limbaugh is just one of many examples of the radio commandos you hear nowadays, but when push comes to shove he's really just a chickenhawk draft dodger.

Rush clearly was referring to actual phony soldiers. He mentioned Jessie MacBeth (never got out of boot camp) in the same spiel on his radio program. There are many others like MacBeth so it should be clear as to why Rush used the plural. Look into Operation Stolen Valor. They've already busted several people impersonating soldiers for reasons ranging from benefit fraud to anti-war activities.

I don't listen to Rush but this was a case of Media Matters twisting/distorting what Rush said in order to create a controversy. They got what's his name with the Rutgers Women's basketball thing and now they're going after anyone else they can. They twisted something O'Reilly said the week prior to Rush.

Evan,

You are surely entitled to your opinion....but I have to completely disagree. I am a huge fan of Rush, and though I do not know the basics of this Reid thing, I can assure you Rush means well......and when he said "phony soldiers" - well, I sure there are more than just this single "phony soldier" he was referring to. Rush knows his shit, and does NOT dodge anything. When he messes up, he admit's it, explains it, and does his best to recover. However, like many democrats, a lot of people makes mistakes and tend to say "fuck off" when they are asked to explain their faults.

Sounds to me like you have a beef with Rush....and now I have a beef with you.

Exactly....so Evan.....take your half assed fucked up comments and stay out of threads like this. You speak of half truths....only to glorify yourself and those you support....when you know damn well you are leaving out very valid and factual points!

Not even close to being accurate. There are many phony soldiers, not just MacBeth who was held up by the extremist left as their poster boy of what they wanted to believe was really happening in Iraq.

Can you explain?

The dems in the senate tried to get Rush fired by sending a threatening letter to his boss. They did this because they can't argue with Rush, whom calls them out on their BS, so instead of debating they just try to strong-arm him off the air.

Boy you sure trapped him. Pretending to not know anything while two posts later declaring yourself a "huge fan of Rush".

Evan was right. Rush's McBeth CYA moment did not happen in the same segment. He pulled it out after a commercial break. Reid and the rest of the Dems were stupid enough to try to one-up the Repubs when it comes to feigning outrage and they sure were shown the business end of pretending to be appalled by the masters (kinda like your pretending to be uninformed about this topic when you immediately thereafter admit that you are trying to sabotage the debate). And why use the plural version of the word soldier instead of the singular if he were speaking directly of MacBeth?

For your listening pleasure and the rest of our listening torture:

The actual clip UNEDITED including the sounds Rush stuffing his face

Rush calling Paul Hackett a "staff puke" and claiming he went to Iraq to pad his resume for a Congressional campaign run

Oh, and to prove that he didn't say what he said....Rush provided an EDITED clip:

During the September 28 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, in response to Media Matters for America's documentation of his recent description of service members who advocate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq as "phony soldiers," Rush Limbaugh claimed that he had not been talking "about the anti-war movement generally," but rather "about one soldier ... Jesse MacBeth." Limbaugh further asserted that "Media Matters had the transcript, but they selectively choose what they want to make their point." To support this claim, Limbaugh purported to air the "entire" segment in question from the September 26 broadcast of his show. In fact, the clip he then aired had been edited. Excised from the clip was a full 1 minute and 35 seconds of the 1 minute and 50 second discussion that occurred between Limbaugh's original "phony soldiers" comment and his reference to MacBeth, the full audio of which can be heard here .

just admit that your hero is a political tool that is of no good to society who was able to play his game better than Reid and we can all move on.

Since you are a Noob (and a "huge fan of Rush"), I will carefully explain...I just hope that I can type slow enough for you to understand....

I am an independent whose name is not derived or based on anything political. I like to question things philosophically which is where the handle comes from. My questioning the world to find out:

"How do we truly know what we perceive as right is right and what we perceive as wrong is wrong?"

Now, back on topic Noob....

Admit that your hero is a blight on society and got caught being the asshat that he is but was still able to play the "I'm so outraged that anyone would take what I said to mean what I said and here is a doctored tape as proof" game better than Reid so that we can move on.

But don't worry, you can still go back to listening to him afterwards. You obviously don't have the mental capacity from your posts in this thread to do much critical thinking or forming your own opinions. You need him as much as he needs dolts like you.

Buahahaha! You make me laugh....in a noob kind of way! Noob this.... 8====() - - -

I dunno about "beef", but he certainly brings down the political dialog in this country. I mean, this example of him calling soldiers "phony" is actually one of his tamer things. He has been caught saying worse many times (and not admitting it), though admittedly I don't pay much attention to him.

Exactly....so Evan.....take your half assed fucked up comments and stay out of threads like this. You speak of half truths....only to glorify yourself and those you support....when you know damn well you are leaving out very valid and factual points!

Knowing you respect and admire Limbaugh, this juvenile reaciton isn't the least bit surprising. Hell, I'm more right-wing than Limbaugh himself in many ways (but in a sane way), and what's really sad is that this nut simply doesn't understand that his rhetoric does more harm than good to political discourse in this country, including his side of the political spectrum.

Basically; the Dems tried to pull a political stunt, it backfired on them big time. Then they tried to claim that was their plan all along, but they were exposed by Rush.

Can you explain?

What a fool, you think people are either 100% with you or 100% against you.

QFT. I'd cite each of the Senators who signed it with Conduct Unbecoming Of A Senator.

Yep. And they'll continue twisting and contorting anything and anyone to further their political agenda. It's disgusting that Media Matters is allowed to continue operating as a non-profit when they are clearly going against the rules of being one.

The sad thing for Media Maters is that Rush is on the air for 21 hours a week. That is plenty of time to take apart their BS.

Meanwhile MM has to rely on news releases and allies in the MSM to push their BS stories.

Rush Limbaugh is probably the most valuable tool the Republicans have when it comes election time. Is it any wonder why the left is always looking for ways to shut him down.

Even, give it up.

Rush is on the air for 21 hours a week and tends to connect one story to the next or add comments or jokes about stories that he told in earlier hours.

If you don?t listen to the whole show you will end up missing some of his comments and jokes.

Rush had already done a bit on ?phony soldiers? prior to the comments that MM tried to take out of context. Anyone who had been listening to the whole show would have known in a second what Rush was referring too.

BTW It is just damn stupid to attack one the strongest backers of the military in a manner like this. His radio show is the most listened to show on Armed Forces Radio. They might as well try calling Warren Buffet stingy because he kept a few billion for himself.
