Hi, my name is ProfJohn, and I'll act stupid when I've been faced.....

As for Boston Legal, I'm a big fan of the show, having been turned on to it by my co-workers - and if you can't see how they film around MJF's condition - as they had to in his last years on Spin City, then you are playing a sad game...

heh, Spin City...

Another video of Fox, taped October 5th for a local TV station.

He looks bad here as well, but I am not sure he looks as bad as in the commercial
link

See, look I posted the good and the bad videos so :p

BTW: I don't see anyone else on here backing up their POV with facts, besides the few with first hand knowledge via family or friends with it.

When ever I thought Parkinson's before this I thought Ali and Reno, and all you see from them two is the shakes.

Ps. I am still hoping to find a video from this year's Boston Legal.

I never said I saw a "huge" difference. We have enough misinformation on here without people putting words into peoples mouths.

What I did say was "he is no where near as bad as he is in the commercial" for the ABC story, which I think he true. You can tell he is suffering, but there is no moving side to side.

And on the TV show clip there is no doubt at all that he shows very little evidence of Parkinson's.

I would like to see a clip from this years Boston Legal.
If he can control it for the TV show, either via medicine or filming during his "good" days or moments, then why didn't they do that for the TV commercial?

Can anyone offer me an explanation for that? Other than the obvious, the Fox in the commercial is going to be a lot more effective than the TV show Fox will be.

BTW: Everything above is MY thoughts. Now go look at all three videos and tell me what you think of the differences between them.

The difference between the GMA spot and the commercial is relatively slight. I haven't seen the Boston Legal clip, but I can't imagine I'd care - that is a filmed show in which they could take 25 takes and edit them together any way they wanted. Believe it or not, the things that happen on Battlestar Galactica aren't always real either.

You are off by 2 years :p

I never once attacked MJF, I never suggested he was "faking" anything, my comments were purely related to the political aspect of the advertisement.

EDIT: Might be appropriate to post a link to the video so people can see what the fuss is about. Here it is.

All I'm saying is I've never seen him the way he appears in this commercial for Claire McCaskill. So I will bigly, hugely admit that I was wrong, and I will apologize to Michael J. Fox, if I am wrong in characterizing his behavior on this commercial as an act, especially since people are telling me they have seen him this way on other interviews and in other television appearances.

I haven't seen Fox for some time and was quite dismayed at how bad he looks. Whether that is because of the progression of his disease (likely) or whether he skipped a dose or two of meds to appear worse than usual really doesn't matter to me.

What disgusts me is him stumping for Democrats, who don't give two sh!ts about his disease or stem cells.

PS, McCaskill is a joke. She's the twat who said she didn't want Bill Clinton near her daughter (presumably because of his tendencies) yet happily accepts his money when he comes in to stump on her behalf.

Totally agrees!!!

Thanks for the link. You gotta love how Rush reports "people have said" and "people have told me about Fox" as if he were reporting facts. As usual he is just pandering to his base and smearing anyone and everyone who associates with the Democrats. That?s what pays the bills for Rush and I understand that, but we are not talking about a football quarterback flailing on the ground after a rough tackle ?Oh he?s faking it?; we are talking about making light of a person with a serious disease who is trying to push for research that the Republicans have blocked. Saying ?Oh he?s faking it? is just plain childish, mean and insulting to sufferers and their families.

Because if there are any adjectives that don't describe the current style of Republican politics, it's "childish, mean and insulting". They'd never stoop to attacking a man coping with a serious disease and suggesting he was faking, or having people who have never shot off anything besides their mouths wear purple-heart band-aids.

Of course they are. Republicans learned in 2004 (and before) that a VERY effective campaign tactic is to take your opponent's (I'd venture the Republicans might say "enemy's") strength and turn it against them. They use it because it works very well, isn't it interesting that in the rehashing of Vietnam military service, Bush somehow came out on top, despite barely serving in the air national guard, stateside, while Kerry won several medals for his service?

Update: People need to Google:

Parkinson's disease is a progressive, degenerative disorder of the nervous system, meaning it becomes increasingly disabling over time. People with Parkinson's disease have rigid muscles, sluggish movements, and tremors (shaking). Parkinson's disease is chronic, meaning it is a life-long condition.

About the meds:

Levodopa is probably the most well known of all anti-Parkinson drugs. It is very effective at reducing tremor and rigidity of the muscles. However, it does have a number of potential side effects, including involuntary movement of the face, mouth, and limbs; short-term memory loss; nausea and vomiting; and confusion.

I certainly would not want that during an interview! Read on:

After several years of Levodopa treatment, most patients find that its periods of effectiveness become shorter. They also begin to experience what's known as the Òoff-on effect,Ó where the patient is okay one minute, then suddenly unable to move. These types of symptoms can be controlled by taking a lower dose of Levodopa more frequently.

What @sshole would accuse someone suffering from a chronic disease who is trying to adjust their medication levels of deliberately skipping them to appear more pitiful?

I'm sure you refer to all the women in your life as "twats".
Nice work agreeing with that drug addled prick Rush though. I don't know if it's because you do the same drugs, that doesn't matter to me, but your support of drug addicts is disgusting. What have they done for you? Rush is a joke.

Where did I attack Fox?

I've always been a big fan of his and remain so. I just said I feel he is doing a disservice to his cause by falling in to the liberal trap.

What Liberal trap? I'm a Liberal and I support stem cell research.
Do you support it? OR is GAWD supposed to fix MJF.
Yeah, I can tell you're a real "fan".

Precisely what has that to do with anything?
umm watch the video in the OP and then that video and look at the difference, duh.

Have you any idea as to the nature of Parkinsons, duh? It's PERFECTLY NORMAL for sufferers to have good and bad days, often markedly so. Only the cruel or ignorant or both would think they could tell anything by a couple of appearances on TV.

We can only hope that these guys get the disease they know so much about.... Or someone close to them will. "Mom, get the F up! Yer obviously faking it like the librul actor feller!"

Well, what the hell do you expect the guy to do? Why don't you put yourself in his shoes...? Your got a disease that is going to KILL you.... Idiot bush (retarded as he is) is bringing FAITH to the table... Quoting lines out the bible and CLEARLY using your own religious hooky pooky to cloud ones judgement.

I'd be for democrats too! I am, I don't want some religious fool in charge Oh wait... That's bush... Never mind...

i wonder if rush fully realizes that his disgusting mean-spirited antics are only casting a pall on him and his worn-out methods and rallying the dems further into making the upcoming elections the beginning of the end times for him and his pnac neocon supporters.

keep it up rush, and thanks for the help, you dolt.

Oh, you mean like Bush the President of family values stumping for Sherwood in PA who admitted cheating on his wife and stumps for Sen Allen who openly uses racial slurs. Carefull spittin' in the wind.

I hope Pabster, profjon, and spidey get parkinsons so that they could sit at home and do nothing instead of showing people the effects of such a disease to show people that stem cell research is needed...
