Limbaugh broadcasts during a time few people listened to the radio. Maybe that was smart. Howard Stern when on terrestrial broadcasted during a time everyone listened to the radio. If Limbaugh was on in the morning his ratings would have been appreciably lower.

I suppose there's a finite chance that Pelosi will be the Democratic candidate in November if the party can't agree on another candidate. I may be wrong, there are some restrictions. Maybe the convention has wiggle room, I don't know. I read a column in the SF Chronicle around a year ago (Joe Garofoli, IIRC) saying she could be the one to dump Trump. She's busy being SOTH, hasn't shown any of the vast weird DNA that the 20+ candidates have shown. She would have to be drafted, as it were. I don't know that she'd show the mettle of Warren/Sanders wing of the party in pressing for major reforms in America. But she would be a breath of fresh air in terms of not obfuscating what's going on.

Counterpoint: it'll never be cleansed. The GOP through Trump has normalized extremism, and whomever the next Republican candidate will be, will be far, far worse. Best case scenario, the GOP falls into obscurity as boomers die out.

The Fox News/RNC Combine has done a wonderful job of smearing her but if you look at Nancy's career objectively she's actually got a lot done and most of it genuinely good.

She's 79 years old. I doubt she wants to be President at this point in her life. Bernie & Joe are outliers.

From a GOP point of view, Rush deserves the medal. They wouldn't be where they are today w/o him. 30 years of his bitter & derisive hate & discontent have molded the minds of millions to serve their purposes entirely.

Almost every story about Limbaugh going back 40 years can be summarized as "Media clown who claims to be a Patriot of Freedom is outraged that people are exercising their freedom in ways that he disagrees with."

Outside of being pop culture icons, I can't really give you a valid reason/argument why those people received it
But I can give you valid reasons why Rush should have not received it.

And that's why observations don't reflect reality. In 2016 a full 28% (!) of people who voted fit in the demographic of age 45+ AND voted for Trump. Compare that to about 16% of people who voted fitting in the demographic of age 18-39 and voting Trump. Boomers and their parents contributed to Trumps election at a rate about 1.75x that of Gen X and Gen Y.
