Runs only at 8x ???

im looking at socket AM2 MOBOS and it says PCIe x16 (electrical x8)

what does the x8 mean ?????????

Exactly what it says - mechanically and from the power allowance it's a PEG (PCI Express Graphics) slot, but there's only 8 instead of 16 data lanes on it.

A 16x PCIe video card will physically fit into the slot, but the slot is only 8x.
