Running Windows 98 on Pentium 83MHz...

I'm surprised, it's alot quicker than I thought it would be! I don't think I would dare run it with my Seagate (261MB) drive, though - I think that would lag a little too much...

Hmmm my boot time ranges anywhere from 35 seconds to a minute and five seconds.. just depends I guess.

Oh well, this is definately better than using Win95b.

I am currently cracking blocks with a Pentium 75mhz running win 98, its sooooooooooooooo slow, but i figured its at least getting SOME work done, as i dont use it for anything else anymore.

Hahah..

I remember playing modem games of Red Alert with my cousin, who had a P75 and a 14.4 modem, I had a 486DX2/66 with a 33.6 modem..

games would always get out of sync 🙂

Speaking of Pentium 75's , how can I identify the motherboard in my old, old system to see what I could throw in it WITHOUT any other upgrades....I think those are slot 5's maybe? If memory serves me, when I first bought it I think I could upgrade to a whopping Pentium 133, but not sure....Any ideas?

It's a stock motherboard I had when I bought a Gateway back in 92 or 93...would make a nice glorified typewriter/email machine for the mother-in-law =)

You might be able to stick a Pentium 133 in there, but I'm not sure.. it really depends on the type of motherboard, etc.. and I'm not experienced with old intel stuff....... only old cyrix stuff 🙂

You should be able to get that p75 to do 120, I was given a p75 system and set the jumpers on the motherboard to 2x60 with no problem, currently running win98se and cracking at 160 kk/s :Q

oh, yeah, it only has 16mb ram right now :Q it will have 32 pretty soon 😛

Nice, thanks for the info....I am still checking whether the board will hold a 133 or not...found another simm chip in the attic, so ready to rock and roll =)

...also found my old Vic-20 in the attic...ahhh, the memories =)
