I'm not going to attempt this but I'm just curious.

Would every attack that's made to a computer that's not protected by some sort of Anti-Virus program, get through & compromise your system? Attacks by Trojans, etc ?

I've been running a home pc with win2k behind a linksys router for about 3 years and I haven't had any problems yet. Then again I don't use this pc for anything important.

Think of windows as a big steel fence surrounding your house(computer) with the entrance missing a gate.

The windows updates cover the little holes in the gate which could allow small little software bugs through.

The firewall is a manual replacement for the gate that is missing. Without it, security threats(jehovas) could walk right in and bother you.

The antivirus software is like having your own watch tower with a guy up there with an M60 which will stop mostly anything that gets past the first two.
