I'm looking to find out how to install Anti-Virus/Spyware programs on a CD while being able to run it from the cd without going online.
I heard about it, but not sure how to go about doing it.

Any ideas?

All information appreciated.

Thanks

I'm confused.
Do you want to virus scan without booting from your HDD, or do you want to virus scan without going online?

All the popular AV programs (AVG, Norton, Avira, Ksapersky, etc.) require an OS to run.

I suppose you could do something with a Linux CD, but that's out of my rehlms.

Basically run virus scans from a Bootable CD without installing any actual programs.

I'm looking at the Ultimate Boot CD, it looks like what I'm looking for.

It's a little overkill for your stated purpose, but check out Ultimate Boot CD For Windows. Everybody with a Windows machine should take the small amount of time to compile one. It's my goto toolbox when I repair computers.

Save your extracted XP disc on your hd somewhere. It'll save some hassle when it comes time to recompile for new virus definitions or whatever.

Also, F-Secure put together a free Rescue CD .ISO. Download, burn the .ISO, and boot from the CD. If the system has a network connection, it'll also fetch virus-database updates before it commences the scan.
