running SSD notebook with Wireless Ext HD

I have a notebook with an HD I am thinking of changing to a 250 GB SSD. I would complement it with a wireless HD. The idea started with ads for the Patriot Gauntlet though that gets pretty middling reviews I was thinking of the seagate wireless hotspot drive.

My thoughts are that I would run OS and pretty much all apps maybe a couple games (GTR2 driving sim on the TV with a wheel/pedals and BZFlag) on the notebook and run media off of the wireless HD (pictures, music and movies).

Notebook is an Asus N56VZ with 8G of Ram and an I7 processor.

Anyone BTDT.

Any reservations running storage in a wireless server? I suppose its basically a NAS, but HD's I've run hooked to my wireless routers have always been awkward to access. Maybe it's just configuration.

I haven't done that particular arrangement, but it should do fine. I play videos on my laptop from my *server connected to the wireless router and works well. I doubt this would be any different unless the external drive sends a really weak signal.

You could just get a hard drive with ethernet and plug it into the router. Would probably be cheaper and have better speed. I have done this for a customer in the past (so he could access it from multiple laptops) at it worked fine.

I was a bit hesitant at first as I had personal content available wirelessly. In my case, it was all on hard drives in my *server, so I just set the computer to be only accessible on the local network.

*I use the term sever loosely as it is an old Compaq running a Single Core Sempron, but it does fine.
